A half-blind streamer recently reached a milestone inOverwatch 2’s competitive mode, in which players are ranked in certain tiers like Bronze or Silver, marking a major achievement in hisOverwatch 2ranked experience. What makes the streamer’s achievement so remarkable is the fact that he has been half-blind since he was just three years old due to a detached retina. The streamer shared clips of his performance, in which he usually plays asOverwatch 2characters Cassidy and Widowmaker, both known for requiring precision to play well for their team.

TheOverwatchfranchise has featured a ranked mode since its original entry dating back to 2016. In the originalOverwatchplayers couldn’t start playing the ranked mode until they reached level twenty-five out of fifty. Blizzard has altered theconditions for competitive mode inOverwatch 2, instead requiring players to win or lose a certain number of matches before placing them in a tier with other players of comparable skill. The ranking system is broken up into seven tiers: Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, Master, Grandmaster and Top 500. The majority ofOverwatch 2players are ranked in the Bronze, Silver and Gold tiers, making the streamer’s milestone all the more incredible.

The streamer took in question, MarshalMommy, took to Reddit to share a compilation of his favoriteOverwatch 2competitive moments in which hisimpressive skills as the characters Cassidyand Widowmaker are showcased. During the almost three-minute-long clip, he manages to pull off several difficult headshots and multi kills. Also featured in the video post is a brief explanation of his status as half-blind, in which he provides evidence of his condition to dispel people accusing him of lying. MarshalMommy managed to achieve the rank of Master, a tier that very fewOverwatch 2competitive players ever reach.

Attaining Master rank inOverwatch 2is a time-consuming process, as to even unlock competitive mode players have to win fifty matches in quick play. After players begin their ranked experience they’ll be assigned a placement ranking, which updates after every seven wins or twenty losses, whichever happens first. This is a unique ranking system as other games such asTom Clancy’sRainbow Six Siegetypically update player tiers after each consecutive match.

MarshalMommy reaching Master tier is a remarkable feat without even considering the disadvantage he’s at playing half-blind. Although he does use hitscan focused characters, which means their attacks hit others instantly rather than act as projectiles, this doesn’t detract from his feat at all. The streamer still managed toclimb the various ranks ofOverwatch 2’s ranked mode, reaching a tier that few players manage to climb to.

Overwatch 2is now available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S.
