The faces ofStar WarsandHalo, Darth Vader and Master Chief respectively, are two of the mosticonic sci-ficharacters to ever exist. No one can forget Darth Vader’s signature breathing, commanding voice, and iconic armor, traits that - save for the breathing - Master Chief shares with him. Chief also happens to have an arsenal of weapons that most fans can’t help but have fun killing things with. In general, both characters are awesome concepts living in awe-inspiring worlds.

Incelebration ofStar Warsday, an artist going by the tag Kurrupt Gaming posted an edited-together image of Darth Vader and Master Chief on Reddit. It depicts the two iconic characters dueling — Master Chief with his Type-1 Energy Sword and Darth Vader with, of course, his trusty red lightsaber. The carnage of burning ships filling the sky with smoke surrounds the two, all undoubtedly collateral resulting from the duo’s epic battle.

Kurrupt planned to release the image on May 4, affectionately called “May the Fourth Be With You,” but took a day longer than expected to release it, which worked in their favor. May 4 serves asStar Warsday officially, but since its inception, fans of the dark side of the Force have taken to celebratingStar Warson May 5, which they’ve appropriately dubbed “Revenge of the Fifth.” Considering that Kurrupt’sart depicts Darth Vader, the most powerful Sith Lord to ever live, it makes more sense for it to release on this day.

If one needed to pick a winner between these two icons, the most likely victor would be Vader, as his powers are pretty ridiculous. In his comics, the Sith Lord ripped open dimensions with the Force, and inStar Wars: Jedi Fallen Order, he even used it to hold back a planetary ocean. It’s also not hard to imagine that his reflexes and tendency to block blaster bolts pretty much neutralize almost all of Master Chief’s ranged weapons. Regardless, both characters are legendary in their own right.

In recent news for both franchises, Disney just released the first two episodes ofStar Wars: The Bad Batch, an animated series taking place afterEpisode 3: Revenge of the Sith, which shows what happened to Clone Troopers after Emperor Palpatine had them decommissioned. Meanwhile, developer 343 Industries just released someconcept art ofHalo Infinite, the sixth main title in theHalofranchise, and one that will pick up Master Chief’s ever-going story.
