With the live-actionHalotelevision series finally on its way to Paramount+ this March, fans of Xbox’s crown jewel franchise will finally get to seeMaster Chief face the Covenant in an all new format. And while fans are very excited to see the Spartan super solider in action, a character that has drawn more attention from fans is Chief’s AI companion Cortana.

In theHalouniverse,Cortana is an artificial intelligence programwho assists Master Chief in the field by relaying information, hacking systems, and in general serving as the talkative foil to Master Chief’s more subdued, quiet personality. Cortana is highly regarded as one of the most popular characters in theHalofranchise, second only to Master Chief himself, due to her likable personality and character depth.

While it was assumed that the character would receive a slight redesign for the television series, some fans still long for the live-action interpretation of the character to look closer to her original design. Thus, on Reddit’s r/halo feed, user SplinterPizza made a small change to the characteras seen in the first trailer for theHalotelevision series, making her look closer in line to her video game counterpart.

At first glance, the major change the user added to the image of Cortana is her trademark blue hue, a staple of the character to exemplify her state as a computer program that has carried through to each installment of theHalogame series. So far, the user’s post has a 94% upvote, with many comments commending their work to put this edit together, and already how it looks much better than how the character looks in the show itself.

While this may be an addition to the character that has not been added yet in post-production, it’s a shame for some fans that the first look at the character lacks this defining feature, especially with the show translating characters from the Covenant species flawlessly to live-action. That being said, withJen Taylor returning to voice Cortana in theHalotelevision series, it’s reassuring to know that some elements of character will remain intact.

Overall, the user’s efforts to stray the design closer to the games is overall commendable, showing that the tiniest of polishes on an already great effect can make the largest difference, and allowsCortana to stand out compared to other characters. Whether an effect like this will be implemented on the character in the actual series will remain to be seen until the show premieres.
