Elden Ringshares many similarities to theDark Soulsgames. It adds several new features to the genre and expands upon the ideas via the open world, but it still follows the same design blueprint of theSoulsseries. Elements of level design inElden Ring, in particular, are carried over from FromSoftware’s previous games.
Elden Ringis filled with shortcuts, doors that only open from one side, items placed near traps, etc. It also features elevators that function as shortcuts, as players must journey through the level and find a path to the other end of the elevator to unlock it. Trying to jump down an elevator will most likely result in death, but that is also true forElden Ring’s many enemies.

A user named Wykkan shares a clip of a fight against the Crucible Knight inStormveil Castle. They successfully dodge the tail swipe attack but seem to trigger the elevator, which takes the Crucible Knight to the area above. The enemy is likely not content with the outcome, and their AI moves toward the player. As expected, the Crucible Knight falls to their death, and Wykkan gets Aspects of the Crucible: Horns as a reward.
Many users think that the manner in which the Crucible Knight lands on his face right next to the player makes the clip even more hilarious. They can also fly, but the AI is probably not programmed for these situations. Other users share similar funny stories of how Crucible Knights died in theirElden Ringplaythroughs, with some flying straight out a window and beyond the playable area of the level.
One user comments on how Wykkan takes a bit of damage as the Crucible Knight falls on them, although it’s probably too little considering the size and armor of this enemy type. It appears that otherElden Ringplayersalso managed to defeat him this way, and this may even develop into a popular strategy to easily defeat the Crucible Knight at Stormveil Castle.
Some players consider Crucible Knights one ofElden Ring’s most annoying enemies. They have a variety of attacks and can close the distance deceptively fast. Most players will first encounter this enemy at anElden RingEvergaol in Limgrave. However, users may need to level up and gain better equipment before tackling this enemy, as it can be a challenging fight early in the game.
Elden Ringis out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
