Summary
World of Warcraftadded some new achievements in Patch 10.1.7, but one of them is just downright mean. Earning this achievement requires players to bully Nefarian, an iconicWorld of Warcraftraid boss, on two separate occasions.
Patch 10.1.7 introduced tons of new content toWorld of Warcraft, including an overhaul for profession achievements. It added new categories for achievements for each profession, as well as tons of new tasks for players to work towards. Some of these unlocks are retroactive, but most of them have to be started fresh now that the update is live.

One of these new achievements is called That’s Just Cruel. To earn it, players must defeat Nefarian in Blackwing Lair, and again in Blackwing Descent “just to get the point across,” while wearing the Onyxia Scale Cloak–an item crafted from the remains of his brood sister Onyxia, anothericonic raid boss inWorld of Warcraft. Though technically classified as a Leatherworking achievement because the Onyxia Scale Cloak is a crafted item, players can earn this hilarious new achievement without the profession.
Nefarian is the dastardly son of the villainousDeathwing ofWorld of Warcraftinfamyknown for his mind-bending experiments and cruelty. Meanwhile, his sister Onyxia crippled the city of Stormwind by orchestrating the death of its queen and the kidnapping of its king. Even so, slaying Nefarian twice while wearing a cloak made of his sister’s scales is as mean as it is funny.
ManyWoWfans got a kick out of this achievement. Some of these new activities require a lot of monotonous work, such as thenew cosmetic goggles unlocks for Engineers inWorld of Warcraft, but That’s Just Cruel is both funny and unique in how it is earned. Given how comical the achievement text is, players can tell the developers had as much fun making it asWorld of Warcraftplayers will by earning it.
The Onyxia Scale Cloak has had a surprising amount of relevance in modernWoWconsidering the item is nearly 20 years old. A specific chest located in the Zaqali Caldera in Zaralek Cavern containing a cosmetic toycan only be opened whileWorld of Warcraftplayers are wearing the cloak. It was originally used to protect players from Shadowflame DoTs in Blackwing Lair, so the Onyxia Scale Cloak fittingly allows players to open the chest covered in the deadly fires. Between the Zaralek Cavern chest and this new achievement, Leatherworkers looking to earn some quick coin might want to consider crafting some Onyxia Scale Cloaks to sell on the Auction House.
World of Warcraftis available now for PC.
