Summary

God of Warhas Kratos going up against creatures both small and gigantic. Fortunately, he often has his son Atreus around to help him out. InGod of War Ragnarok, things are taken a step further, and players are given the chance to control Atreus as a second playable protagonist.

It would be possible for Aloy to also have a sidekick in theHorizonfranchise. She has a twin named Beta and, though she is quiet, she has plenty of abilities. The nextHorizongame could use her the same way Atreus is used inGod of War.

Who is Beta in Horizon Forbidden West?

Like Aloy, Beta is a clone of Elisabet Sobeck, though she wascreated by the Far Zenithsto use her geneprint to access the terraforming system. They forced her into isolation, though she is given access to the APOLLO training interface which allows her to study various topics. This causes Beta to become a polymath.

Beta forms a relationship with Tilda van der Meerwho introduces her to books and other forms of art via a private data channel. However, Tilda suddenly cuts off all contact and, when she finally meets the rest of the Far Zeniths, Tilda denies the private data channel. On Earth, Beta escapes from the Far Zeniths and seeks refuge with Aloy and her friends at the Base.

Two Clones, Two Personalities

Beta and Aloy are bothclones of Dr. Elisabet Sobeckand have similar upbringings as outcasts. They also have vastly different personalities; while Aloy grows to be confident, self-determined, and independent, Beta is bashful and fearful.

How Beta Could Be Horizon’s Atreus

Though she may be shy, Beta isn’t without her talents. She is a genius with particularly high technical expertise. This puts her in a prime position to help Aloy out with technical matters that Aloy may not understand.

In thenextHorizongame, Beta should come out of her shell, and learn some combat moves from Aloy. This would make her an invaluable companion for Aloy, as she would have the brains and brawn to assist her in any situation. Giving Beta her own tech-based weapons would also allow for a nice change in gameplay, especially if she has her own suite of moves and abilities as a playable protagonist.

Beta Shouldn’t Be Aloy’s Only Companion

Throughout the franchise, Aloy has come to learn that she cannot solve all problems on her own. She needs her friends to help her out, and this will be extra important as she faces the misanthropic AI named Nemesis that is headed for Earth. Though Beta’s help will be invaluable,Horizon 3shouldn’t forget aboutAloy’s other friends, such as Seyka, Erend, Zo, and Alva.

Beta proves herself to be one of the franchise’s most interesting and complex characters. Though she is technically Aloy’s twin, the two couldn’t be any more different. But side by side, they could make a dream team.
