However, before that, players must first figure out how to unlock and defeat Risen Chameleos. This guide will helpMonster Hunter Rise: Sunbreakplayers do just that.

How To Unlock Risen Chameleos

For the short and sweet answer, Risen Chameleos can be unlocked by reaching Master-Rank level 110. When the level is met, Doctor Tadori will inform players of a new Urgent Quest, from which they will be able to take on a Risen Chameleos. However, players should be warned ahead of time that, unlike a normal Chameleos, its Risen counterpart is no joke and is arguably one of the strongest monsters currently in the game, if not the current strongest.

However, before fighting this new Variant of Elder Dragon, players should first understand what Rise Chameleos is and the best ways to defeat it.

How To Beat Risen Chameleos

For quite a while now, players have been hunting and defeatingthe new Afflicted Monstersas the new endgame grind inMonster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak. However, until this point, there has never been an Afflicted Elder Dragon. But with Title Update 2, the game introduced a new variation of “Afflicted” Elder Dragons but, instead, are now Risen. These new Risen Elder Dragons are Elder Dragons that became infected with Qurio Virus but actually overcame and powered up from it. Risen Chameleos is just the first taste of what’s to come in the near future.

Like Flaming Espinas, think of Risen Chameleos as a normal Chameleos, but on steroids, and has a few more tricks up its sleeve. It retains its majorweakness to the Fire elementbut loses its blast weakness in the process. Otherwise, as expected, it hits twice as hard as before, bringing some new moves to the table.

Unlike other monsters, Risen Chameleos has two Enraged states. The first is a normal Enraged mode, where Chameleos will begin to glow white from their scars. But after dealing roughly 50% damage to it, Chameleos will then enter its Risen state. In this mode, Chameleos will not only become more aggressive than before but also gains access to three new super moves.

The first attack to look out for is the Venom Fountain, where Risen Chameleos will spin around and shoot balls of Venom into the air at players. It will then follow up with two long-range Venom blasts at players. This can be considered its ultimate move as well.

The second super move is known as the Flying Venom Balls, where Chameleos will flyup into the air and shoot Venom Balls at the ground. When they hit the ground, they’ll scatter in all directions, attempting to hit oncoming hunters and poison them. Players can use a Flash bug to stun Chameleos out of the air and prevent it from shooting any more Venom Balls.

Finally, the last move to watch out for is the Toxic Explosion, where Chameleos will begin to gather poison within itself. Shortly after, it will release a large explosion that will deal massive damage and poison anyone nearby. The recommendation would be to run away as fast as possible once it begins to gather poison, as taking this attack head-on will spell certain death.

With that in mind, there is one way to counter the Risen State. If dealt enough damage, Chameleos can be knocked out of its Risen State back to its base form for a short period of time. This will be a brief opportunity to deal as much damage as possible to Chameleos before it regains its footing and enters the Risen State once more. But if players can overcome all the Venom, they will eventually be able to defeat the toxic monstrosity.
