Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamitywas given a big showcase during Tokyo Game Show 2020, during which it was revealed that a younger version ofBreath of the Wild’s Impa will be playablein the hack-and-slash game. Another trailer put out during the event focused on the four Champions fighting alongside Link and Zelda, and Nintendo has been highlighting new screenshots based on these characters ever since.

So far, Nintendo of America’s Twitter account has shown off the Goron Champion Daruk and theZora Champion Mipha inAge of Calamity, and today it followed up with the Rito Champion Revali. Known for his arrogant personality, Revali is described by Nintendo’s Tweet as a “skilled archer” who can “strike with great speed,” which is shown by his launching a barrage of arrows in quick succession at an army of Ganon’s forces.

Another screenshot suggests that Revali’s Gale, his unique ability to create updrafts that help Link ascend to new heights inBreath of the Wild, will be represented in combat by summoning tornadoes to blow through his enemies en masse. Of the four Champions that represent Hyrule’s races, Revali is the only one who focuses entirely on long-range combat using bows, so it will be interesting to see how effective this makes him inHyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity.

The upcoming game, which is being developed by the Koei Tecmo team behind theDynasty Warriorsfranchise, is fairly unique amongLegend of Zeldatitles due to it being a spin-off game that tells a canonical story prior toBreath of the Wild. During Tokyo Game Show 2020, Producer Yosuke Hayashi andDirector Ryouta Matsushita said they have seen a positive responsefrom fans, and are happy about it.

AlthoughAge of Calamityis inextricably linked toBreath of the Wild’s narrative, its different gameplay style and contained story should make it accessible to everyone who is interested. However, those who haveBreath of the Wildsave data on Switch will unlock the Training Swordas a unique weapon to destroy the monsters that threaten Hyrule.

Having multiple playable characters like Revali with diverse skillsets is not new forDynasty Warriorsgames, especially previous Nintendo crossovers likeFire Emblem Warriors. That being said, those who who want to make use ofAge of Calamity’s local co-op modeshould be happy to know they’ll have a variety of options when teaming up with friends.

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamitywill launch on November 20 for the Switch.
