Over the past several weeks, the Epic Games Store has been pulling some excellent games out of its Vault and offering them to players at absolutely no cost. The latest of those free offerings isFrostpunk, an acclaimed city-building game that was initially released in 2018.  This means that quite a number of players will now be experiencingFrostpunkfor the very first time, and some of them may wonder if it is possible for them to enjoy the game with their friends.

To address this matter straightaway, there is no official multiplayer or co-op play inFrostpunk, and there do not appear to be mods that add the feature to the game in any form. As such, fans will need to approach the title as a strictly single-player experience and look to other games to scratch their co-op itch. Fortunately, there are a myriad ofgreat strategy gamesthat do support multiplayer for those fans that are in the market for one.

One such game isCivilization 6, which was anEpic Games Store free gamealmost exactly one year ago. Indeed, friends can compete against one another in this highly-popular 4x strategy game from developer Firaxis Games, and it can be a very fun experience. That said, it is important to mention that multiplayer games ofCiv 6can end up taking a considerable amount of time to complete, and it may not be the best option for those fans with limited game time as a result.

TheAge of Empiresseries also provides excellent co-op experiences, and the Definitive Edition of the second entry is perhaps the one that is recommended most often. These titles areReal Time Strategy games, though, which means that they are certainly not identical toFrostpunk. However, players that are willing to open up their searches to that subgenre will have a huge number of multiplayer games to choose from.

Unfortunately, the same cannot really be said about straightforwardcity building games, as there are not many of them with co-op. Some options that are available areTropico 5and6as well as the 2013 version ofSimCity, though players may want to find out more about those titles before purchasing them. Fans may also want to look into the mods that are available for other popular city building games, as there are assuredly some that will facilitate multiplayer in titles that do not officially support it.

Frostpunkis out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
