Beginning in October 2013,LEGOhas produced a total of three separate LEGO Marvel video games, with the twoLEGO Marvel Superheroestitles undoubtedly being the best of the bunch. Bringing together hundreds of iconic Marvel heroes and villains, theLEGO Marvel Superheroesseries celebrates the comic book company’s entire 80+ year history. But while these LEGO Marvel games have both been sprawling epics, the next entry might benefit from honing in on just one Marvel superhero team and beating the MCU to the punch.

Widely considered to be Marvel’s very first superhero team, the Fantastic Four debuted over six decades ago, and they still haven’t really had an adaptation they can be truly proud of. While the 2000s FoxFantastic Fourmovies were fine for the time, they weren’t on the same critical level asRaimi’sSpider-Manmovies, or even Fox’s own first fewX-Menmovies, and the 2015Fantastic Fourreboot was an infamous disaster, both behind the scenes and on-screen.
Unfortunately, the Fantastic Four haven’t had much luck in the realm of video games either. The team’s first proper video game debut came in 1997 with the release ofFantastic Fourfor the PS1, an absolute critical disaster, and the tie-in games for the2000s FoxFantastic Fourmoviescertainly weren’t anything to write home about. The best portrayals of the Fantastic Four in gaming come from team-up titles likeMarvel Ultimate Alliance, or the aforementionedLEGO Marvel Superheroes, where the team doesn’t get the spotlight for too long.
But all hope isn’t lost for Marvel’s first superhero team. After years of teases and rabid fan speculation,the Marvel Cinematic Universe’sFantastic Fourmovieis finally set to release in July 2025, and it has some lofty expectations to live up to, with many fans expecting this to be the first truly great Fantastic Four adaptation. But before the MCU can release its Fantastic Four movie, it would be fun to see a dedicated LEGO Fantastic Four video game adaptation. This game would help to get fans excited about the upcoming MCU movie while also relieving some of the pressure on its shoulders, hopefully being a genuinely good Fantastic Four adaptation first.
A LEGO Fantastic Four Game Could Act as the Perfect Primer
LEGO’s past Marvel video games have all revolved around a plethora of characters from all corners of the Marvel universe coming together to stop some gigantic threat, so the next entry focusing on just the Fantastic Four might feel like a bit of a step back for the franchise, but there are some big benefits to taking that step back. By focusing solely on the Fantastic Four,the next LEGO Marvel gamecould act as the perfect introduction to the often-overshadowed superhero team, delivering playable LEGO versions of a handful of the team’s most pivotal comic runs of the last six decades, essentially providing a crash course before the MCU’s own iteration of the team.
