It turns out thatLEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Sagawill release lacking a few next-generation features. As the Official PlayStation Magazine notes, the newest entry in theLEGO Star Warsseries will not utilize certain options on PlayStation 5.

TheLEGOvideo games are known for combining classic stories with a blocky, plastic charm. One of the most famous of these crossovers is theLEGO Star Warsseries, which took players through the original six movies. Now it is getting a reboot to fit in the sequel trilogy, but coming at a cost. Sony touts multiple features unique to PlayStation 5 to set it apart from competitors. However, it does not seem like every developer is on board yet.

During launch, critics pointed to the PlayStation 5’s controller, the DualSense, as one of most next-gen aspects. That is because theDualSense generates haptic feedbackthat aims to simulate all kinds of gaming situations. From moving through sand, shooting an assault rifle, or simply walking through rain, haptic feedback can immerse players further. Despite the popularity, this is one of the features that will be missing fromLEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Sagawhen it releases.

The other two options that fans will be missing out on are ray-tracing visuals and 3D audio. In essence, thePlayStation 5 games that best use ray-tracingcreate more realistic lighting in the game. For instance, images in mirrors or puddles will be accurate to the actual reflection. 3D audio is another way of immersing players by allowing sounds to occur as if happening around the player. While these features are key to enveloping gamers in the experience, it sounds likeLEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Sagawill be taking a pass.

News around the game is looking mostly positive so far. Unlike the previous games, it is including all 9 mainStar Warsfilms and going for an open-world format. A recent announcement alsoalludes to 300 playable characters, a significant undertaking. It is unfortunate that the PlayStation 5 version will already be missing out on some features. Part of the justification for the console was its ability to create an immersive atmosphere through haptic feedback and 3D audio.

On the flip side, many fans planning on grabbing the newest title will likely not miss the options too much. All three are mainly surface level features meant to enhance the game. If the title provides a high quality universe to explore, the lack of next-gen features probably will not matter. Someopen-world games release full of game-breaking bugsor shallow content, a far more troublesome issue. Nevertheless,LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Sagashould be a humorous way to experience the famous movie series.
