Earlier today, Crystal Dynamics released patch 2.7.2 which is thelatest of many patches forMarvel’s Avengersthe developerhas released over the years. This new patch addresses a number of little issues that have popped up in the game as post-launch content was released. This includes, but is not limited to, adjustments to the campaign and Initiative missions, as well as making sure Bucky Barnes will not appear in the Helicarrier as an NPC when players control The Winter Solider. Additional interface issues have been adjusted as have some of the game’s combat issues. Various art and visual issues were also tweaked which includes distortion on Hawkeye’s Modern outfit, the Hulk’s 1,000,000 BC skin, and several others.

From its initial reveal,Marvel’s Avengerswas a controversial game. The art direction confused gamers and the live service aspect of it caused concern among others. Ultimately, these concerns were justified, asMarvel’s Avengerswas released to a lukewarm reception and it, alongside theGuardians of the Galaxygame, may havelost Square Enix as much as $200 million dollars. Despite this, Square Enix and developer Crystal Dynamics continued to support the game for well over two years.

Since the game was released, the developer has released numerous pieces of DLC in the form of new story missions, characters, and new skins. The latest of these was the1,000,000 BC Hulk Skinfor the iconic character. Sadly, it appears that the expense of maintaining the game wasn’t offset by whatever money it earned. With Crystal Dynamics' sale to Embracer Group AB, it seemed that the publisher finally decided that it was no longer worth pursuing. At the very least, the developer will continue to add a few new patches to the game before leaving it altogether.
