Summary
An upcomingMarvel’s Spider-Man 2collectible figure from Hot Toys features a surprising detail about Peter Parker’s symbiotic black costume - namely that he still uses the mechanical arms from the game’s initial trailer. The Venom symbiote will bea major plot element inMarvel’s Spider-Man 2, and just like with most adaptations of its story, Peter will wear the mysterious alien life form before it takes control of whoever becomes Venom. As is also the case with most versions of the symbiote, Peter gains a much darker demeanor to match his striking new look - much to the concern of his friends and loved ones like Miles Morales and Mary Jane Watson.
Convincing Peter to be rid of his new costume will probably be easier said than done inMarvel’s Spider-Man 2, as it grants the veteran web-slinger a host ofimpressive new combat abilities. These were first shown off in May with an intenseSpider-Man 2gameplay trailer that featured Peter unleashing a brutal assault against Kraven the Hunter’s army of mercenaries. In addition to making Peter’s punches and kicks much more aggressive, the Symbiote grants him the use of powerful tendrils that can grab foes from a distance or strike multiple enemies at once.

These tendrils might not be the only trick Peter has under his symbiotic sleeve inMarvel’s Spider-Man 2, at least not according to the newly revealed Black Suit Peter Parker figure from Hot Toys. This high-end collectible is now available to pre-order and includes several different accessories and replaceable parts - such as a pair of web wings that can be used to glide and a swappable head that sees Peter’s original red mask peaking out from beneath the symbiote. However, fans like Reddit user OneSixthPosing quickly took notice of the mechanical spider limbs that can be attached to Peter’s back.
These robotic limbs are very similar to the ones that Peter was seen using intheMarvel’s Spider-Man 2reveal trailerback in 2021, and are an homage to the Iron Spider suit he has famously utilized in both the comics and MCU films. With Venom and the symbiote also confirmed forSpider-Man 2, fans have speculated on when and how Peter gains control of these robotic limbs - with a popular theory being that he creates them to compensate for the eventual loss of his symbiote abilities.
It looks like this idea is now disproven thanks to the new Hot Toys Black Suit Peter Parker figure, which clearly depicts him using his new robotic limbs while still under theinfluence of the symbiote inMarvel’s Spider-Man 2. Of course, Hot Toy could be taking an artistic license or using an older concept art of Peter in the classic symbiote costume, but it’s pretty clear that Peter will be a force to be reckoned with if he is indeed using his newest invention in tandem with his newfound alien suit.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2launches on October 20 for the PlayStation 5.
