Warning: Spoilers ahead for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2Though many have focused on the big teases fromMarvel’s Spider-Man 2’s ending and post-credits scenes, the game sets up two big side villains within its optional content, one of which a fan believes they have spotted within the open-world. Obviously, this is almost guaranteed to be nothing more than aMarvel’s Spider-Man 2bug, but the interesting footage has still gotten fans talking.
While fans of theMarvel universe’s Symbioteswill have to wait longer to see Cletus Kassidy suit up as Carnage, this bug has led some fans to think that Chameleon is already stalking the Spider-Men ahead ofMarvel’s Spider-Man 3or aMarvel’s Spider-Man 2’s DLC. Those who completed the Unidentified Target side activities, which saw Spidey chasing strange drones throughout the city, will know that they were being used by Chameleon to gather data from living and dead civilians so that he could forge more disguises. In the cutscene at the end of the activity chain, Chameleon is watching Spider-Man from a distance and promising to finish what his half-brother Kraven started.

While the payoff for Chameleon’s threat is likely a fair bit away, Reddit user BarneyLeggendary spotted a strange New York citizen that heavily resembles the criminal. In their clip, which sees Spider-Man walking around a small soccer field,Peter Parkerwalks up to an NPC on a bench and emotes at them. Likely just hoping to get their attention, the Redditor is shocked when the NPC leaves their seat and disappears into thin air, joking that they are a “secret supervillain.”
Things get more interesting when looking at the design for the NPC, as both the character’s face and hairstyle resemble the person Chameleon was disguised as in his final cinematic. This is pointed out by several commenters, as though the outfit has changed, the idea of Chameleon disappearing when he is noticed by his prey is quite fitting. As for a potential explanation for his invisibility, this could be some advanced cloaking tech acquired by Chameleon, which would hardly be out of place given all the gadgets shown inInsomniac’s Marvel universethus far.

In reality, this is likely just a series of coincidences that resulted in a fun clip and community discussion. Assuming this is actually the same character model from the Chameleon end cutscene, it could simply be a random NPC face and hairstyle that Insomniac uses repeatedly throughout its world. The invisibility when the NPC goes to talk to Spider-Man could also be a bug, as there have been no shortage ofentertainingMarvel’s Spider-Man 2glitchesshared in the month since it released.
As for when Chameleon will actually encounter the friendly neighborhood hero, Insomniac has a few options. Since he is a minor threat and not a big foe likeGreen Goblin, he could crop up in a DLC or spin-off if they happen, with another side mission appearance viaMarvel’s Spider-Man 3also on the table.
