Summary
AMinecraftfan posed a question to the fandom, asking what animals are missing from the game that players would most like to see. The responses are varied, though many are rooted in a sense thatMinecraft’s world feels too empty at times, and several of these additions would help it to feel more realistic and lived-in.
Minecraftcertainly has animals, but the kinds that exist are fairly limited. Nearly every year, the game hosts a vote to determinewhich mob should be added toMinecraftnext, but as this only leads to one addition per year, there are some additions that could take a long time to even be considered by Mojang, let alone make it to the game. If the developer is looking for ideas outside of the mob vote, these animals are popular choices.

Reddit user PetVenturer posted an image of the “most popular animals” according to Google, and asked which of those that aren’t already in the game players would want to see. Players didn’t limit themselves to those choices, though. Several players thought that reptiles would add a lot to the game, with VillagerKiller1 suggesting snakes in particular. They suggested that there could be a range of sizes of snakes, with harmless smaller ones and large ones that can actually devour mobs like sheep or cows. Alligators and crocodiles were also a common suggestion, with players thinking they would be a great addition toMinecraft’s swamps.
Another common suggestion was to add to thebirds inMinecraft, with some players lamenting that the world’s skies seem particularly empty to them. EyeofEnder suggested crows that could be befriended and even bring the player items, as sometimes happens in real life. Seagulls were also recommended, and nmheath03 suggested homing pigeons that could be tamed and then carry small items back to the player’s base.

Sea life was also a common recommendation, with multiple players asking for sharks. Most of the suggestions wanted sharks to be a neutral mob, or one that would only attack during certain circumstances, like when a player was already being targeted by another underwater creature, as though the player’s “blood” had attracted them to the scene. Air_conditionlng_fan recommended that standard sharks be neutral, while zombie sharks could be hostile, and GoblinSharky911 added to the idea, thinking thatMinecraft’s Drownedcould ride on zombie sharks and pose a bigger threat to the player that way.
Commonly Requested Minecraft Animals
It remains to be seen if Mojang will ever add any of these animals to the game. Thankfully,Minecrafthas an extensive modding community that regularly adds new and exciting elements to the game. Even so, the popular consensus seems to agree thatMinecraft’s world can feel a bit barren at times in terms of animal life, and more creatures being added to the game would likely be seen as a positive thing.
