As two of thebest open-world games around, both of these releases, which coincidentally came out at around the same time, have left quite the impact on the industry. After more than a decade, bothMinecraftplayers and those who still love Bethesda’s epic RPG keep coming back to these giants of gaming.
Ever sinceMinecraft’s inception, people have been using the blocky title to create all sorts of interesting structures. Everything from reconstructions of real-world buildings to redstone contraptions that are mind-bogglingly complex to someone making aPac-Mancabinet inMinecrafthave been shown off by the community. It’s one of the reasons the game is still so massive to this day. It allows for unlimited creativity in a world that’s visually distinctive from anything else that was around at the time. And the projects just keep on coming.

In a recent post on Reddit, user fonta59 has shown off their creative skills by rebuilding one ofSkyrim’s most famous cities inMinecraft. Several images show the recreation from various angles, including some interior shots, with a lot of dedication having gone into the build. However, there is a slight cheat when it comes to the inside of the castle. Because the interior was too big for the outer dimensions of the building, the player is actually teleported to the inside, which is quite a clever idea. One user says the whole design maintains that depressing look that the original city has, which isn’t a criticism. If anything, fonta59 has expertly managed to recreate that particular mood.

Windhelm is one of the major cities inSkyrim, which, according to the lore, has been destroyed numerous times over the course of the franchise’s fictional history. It’s perhaps not as famous as Whiterun, which is pretty much the first major city players come to during a new playthrough, or Riften where the Thieves Guild resides, but it’s still a key aspect ofThe Elder Scrolls 5’s landscape.
As forMinecraftitself, being agame that has low system requirementsand the aforementioned endless creative potential, it’s a very accessible title. Players from all over the world and from all walks of life engage in Mojang’s sandbox release, and the fact that people are happy to rebuild complicated structures shows an enormous amount of dedication and talent.
