Dying in aCall of Dutygame is normal, as the fast-paced nature of the series usually has players encounter death pretty frequently, though that doesn’t mean death can’t be frustrating. InCall of Duty: Modern Warfare, this is especially true when it comes todeath by weird bugs, shotguns, and the “beloved” Claymore mine.
Dying a few kills off a high killstreak due to a well-hidden or even randomly placed Claymore never feels good for the player. Recently, aCall of Duty: Modern Warfareplayer known as Due-Platypus has posted one of their experiences with dealing with Claymores in the game.

In the clip, the player was ascending an elevator found in one of the taller buildings on Tavorsk District during a match ofGround War. When the ride up the elevator shaft concludes, the player is faced with the common dilemma in which a Claymore has been set up by the exit of the elevator. The player appears to want to jump back down the shaft in order to avoid the Claymore but perhaps would have still died due to the blast radius or fall damage, so they tried something else instead.
The player quickly leaps forward, which triggers the detonation but does not kill the player. Understandably, during the celebration ofliving through a Claymore, the player likely felt a sense of accomplishment and pushed forward to ascend the few flights of stairs left to get to the building’s rooftop area. The hype of living through a Claymore was quickly shut down as another Claymore was placed just around the corner from the last one, killing the player.
Going through the previous Claymore encounter must have felt exhausting but it is a common thing to see these days inModern Warfare. Luckily, the Claymore has been nerfed and can be temporarily disabled with a stun grenade which allows the player to run by without tripping the laser. The nerf to the Claymore is a step in the right direction as it gives hope to players that want otherModern Warfareweapons to be nerfedin the future.
While dying to a Claymore is extremely infuriating especially after running for miles in theGround War playlist, there are at least better ways to avoid them these days. Despite the nerfs, Claymore mines are still very powerful for catching flanking players off guard and with player feedback, Infinity Ward will potentially take a further look at lowering the lethality of the Claymore.
