This week marked the start of Season 3 forCall of Duty: Modern Warfare, and for the last few days players have been able to enjoy the first wave offresh content that has been addedto the game. Well, most players have, because it looks like this week’s update introduced a few new problems as well.
The past week has not been that great for those who play these game on Xbox One, as evidenced by the whole debacle with the UDT Ghost bundle that was supposed tocome with pre-orders forCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remasteredon the platform. And it’s gotten worse since then, because over the last few days, many Xbox users have also reported that they’ve been having trouble actually playing the game.

Across social media, players have expressed frustration over an issue where this week’s Season 3 update reaches 100% but fails to fully load, effectively locking them out ofModern Warfare. This has left players struggling to figure out ways to get around this, with some, unfortunately, resorting to deleting the game entirely andre-installing it.
Luckily for everyone else, it looks like users on Reddit may have found a workaround that many have said worked for them. What players have to do is go into their system settings menu and select “System," followed by “Console Info & Updates,” “Reset Console,” and lastly “Erase and Keep My Games and Apps.” Like the name suggests, this will reset the Xbox One without removing anything,Call of Duty: Modern Warfareincluded. Worth noting, though, is that users will need their Xbox Live login information in order to complete the process.
While this should help Xbox players for the time being, this doesn’t address the inherent problem, but in regards to that,Activisionhas confirmed that it’s aware of the update issue and investigating its cause. In the meantime, it also suggests players dealing with this problem try rebooting their consoles.
On a brighter note, Infinity Ward has finally fixed the aforementionedUDT Ghost bundle problem. The developer announced on its Twitter page this morning that it released a patch that should let Xbox users access the items that they’ve been unable to get for the past week.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfareis available for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
