The newMonster Huntermovie is on its way to theaters this summer, and Sony Pictures has released two new posters that give an up close and personal look at some of the weapons coming to the film. Simply titled,Monster Hunter, the costume designs and prop direction for the classic weapons from the game already promise that this September release should meet the new higher expectations ofrecent video game movies.
The two new posters themselves showcase the two leads, Milla Jovovich and Tony Jaa, fully equipped with perfectly crafted weapons and armor straight out of the game series, which could give thebestMonster Huntercosplayersa run for their money. While set photos that give an idea of what the characters and their equipment look like have already been released, the new posters give a more stylized view of everything and a better idea of how the weapons will look in the movie.

Fans of the series will immediately recognize that Jovovich has come prepared with a Giant Jawblade, a great sword that has appeared in a number of games, and one of the most iconic weapons fromMonster Hunter. As for Jaa’s poster, he has come equipped with the Great Hunter’s Bow, a bone bow that has also appeared in multiple installments in the series. The choice of these weapons seems like a natural pick considering how they don’t necessarily come from any specific monster and are classic weapons from the games, leaving the choices open to introducemonsters from every game.

From what Sony Pictures has released so far, it’s hard to say what monsters will actually appear in theMonster Huntermovie, and these weapons don’t give much of an idea either. While they are both made out of the giant bones of monsters, the basic designs don’t give much of an idea of exactly what monsters were hunted in order to make them. Although, hopefully, someclassic Elder Dragonsfrom the series will make an appearance in the new movie.
So far, not much has been released about the newMonster Huntermovie, but with itsrelease date recently revealed, fans can at least rest assured that filming is rolling along smoothly. Looking at the excellent prop and costume designs, along with the stellar cast joining the movie, this looks like it should be one that players won’t want to miss. Hopefully, Sony Pictures has learned from recent video game movies and can bring outMonster Hunter’s full potential on film.
