Morbiusdirector Daniel Espinosa fully believes that fan-favorite Miles Morales will eventually make his official grand introduction into the MCU. Espinosa is the director of Sony’s latestSpider-Manspinoff flick,Morbius, which has received various negative reviews - with a shockingly low Rotten Tomatoes score of 15%.

Morbius' performance at the box office and with audiences has been one of the worst Marvel has seen in a while. TheSpider-Manspinoff film stars actor Jared Leto as the titular character of a scientist who is suffering from a rare-blood disease. While conducting various experiments to try and cure himself, he accidentally ends up giving himself a strange form of vampirism. Now, in a recent interview withUproxxto discuss his latest release,Morbiusdirector Espinosa has shared his thoughts regarding the debate as towhether or not Miles Moraleswill ever be making his way to the MCU. Espinosa was quite insistent on the fact that it’s never been a matter of whether Miles will be crossing over to the MCU, it’s more of a question as to when. He stated, “I would bet your life on that you would have Miles Morales from the Spider-Verse in the Marvel Cinematic Universe at some point.”

Thecharacter of Miles Moralesfirst originated from the Marvel Comics back in 2011. Morales is an alternate version of Spider-Man - a teenager who acquires superpowers similar to Peter Parker’s after he is bitten by a radioactive spider. Miles exploded in popularity and gained massive attention after the release of 2018’sSpider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. This was a revolutionary move in terms of representation for the Marvel fanbase, as Miles is the first Black Spider-Man as well.

As a result,Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verseearned incredibly positive reviews and even went on to win an Academy Award for Best Animated Feature. Miles is voiced by rising starShameik Moore and is set to return for two animated sequels,Across the Spider-Verse Part OneandTwo- expected to be released in 2022 and 2023.

Morbiusseems to have post-credits scenes that leave room for the possibility for a crossover at some point between Sony’s Spider-Man Universe and the MCU. Although, It still remains unclear as to just how the two overlap, Espinosa seems to be promising fans that regardless,Miles Morales will definitely be transitioninginto the MCU - perhaps sooner than fans think.
