This was revealed in a new trailer forMortal Kombat 1, where it first shows Smoke and Sub-Zero scaling a fortress wall, before being attacked by Nitara. It then cuts to an interview with Megan Fox herself, along with some brief clips of the character she plays. Fox expresses her excitement over this opportunity, where she’s not only voicing a character but feels like she’s in the game itself as Nitara. Fox also detailed the recording process for Nitara, where she described it as being fun and allowing her to express herself more than with other characters she’s played.
Nitara debuted inMortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance, where she is a vampire from Outworld. She’s a rather obscure character in the series, having only a few appearances in games and other media.MK1marks her return to the series after her last game appearance 17 years ago inMK: Armageddon. The trailer shows off her redesign, where she retains her iconic wings but is now wearing demonic-looking armor. This video also showcases some of her combos in the game, where she primarily fights in the air, along with some sort of blood seal mechanic. Some brief snippets of the story were also shown, where despite her anti-hero nature, she seems like she’s on the villains' side.
Megan Fox is evidently a big fan ofMortal Kombat, where she once stated that the series’ Princess Kitana was one of her dream video game roles. Fox expresses her love for the fighting game franchise in this trailer too, where she callsMortal Kombat“one of the greatest video games of all time.” While Nitara is more of an antihero compared to Kitana, it’s likely a dream come true for Fox to be a playable character in the game and not just appear as a guest or cameo.
