Mortal Kombat 11has officially unveiled itsAftermathexpansion, revealing a slew of new content that fans of the fighting game can look forward to on May 26. While some of the most exciting new content in theAftermathexpansion will require players to purchase new DLC, it’s worth pointing out thatMortal Kombat 11fans also have some completely free content to look forward to as well.

When theMortal Kombat 11: Aftermathexpansionlaunches on May 26, it will coincide with a free update that allMK11owners can try. This will include the Klassic Dead Pool and Soul Chamber stages, Stage Fatalities, and the “Friendship” Fatality variant. As some may recall, Friendships inMortal Kombat 11let players end a fight by doing something nice for their opponent, as opposed to the usual method of brutally dismembering them in an over-the-top fashion.

So far, NetherRealm has given fans a look at two differentMortal Kombat 11Friendships. At the end of theMortal Kombat 11: Aftermathannouncement trailer, fans can seeScorpionperform a Friendship maneuver, pulling in a giant teddy bear with his grappling hook and hugging it. Elsewhere, a screenshot of Kano grilling food, complete with a chef’s hat, shows a different Friendship players will be able to perform in the game.

It will be interesting to see just how many Friendship moves are added toMortal Kombat 11come the big May 26 update. It’s possible that there will just be a handful in the game, though it’s also possible that each character will have their own unique Friendship move. Fans also have to hang tight and learn how exactly the Friendship moves are performed, as they will require different button combinations than theFatalities.

While there will be some worthwhile content added toMortal Kombat 11for free on May 26, those that purchase theAftermathDLC will get their hands on some new story content along with three brand new DLC characters. The newMortal Kombat 11DLC characters coming to the game as part of theAftermathexpansion are Fujin, Sheeva, andguest fighter RoboCop. It remains to be seen if any of these characters will be able to perform Friendships, however.

Mortal Kombat 11is out now for PC, PS4, Stadia, Switch, and Xbox One.
