The Game Awards has had no shortage of surprise game reveals and announcements including the first footage of Xbox Series X, formerly known as Project Scarlett. Fresh of its recentrelease of fan favorite character Sindel, NetherRealm took the opportunity to stealthily show off its next character for its popular fighting game,Mortal Kombat 11.
The trailer in question came at a time when the show was taking a short break. TheMortal Kombat 11trailer opened with what seemed to be old footage of the base game, certain story elements, as well as gameplay of many of the roster characters fighting it out. The trailer ended with the logo and an announcement that the game was 50% off, but the true surprise popped up at the end.

Following the logo, new footage appeared with the yet to be shown Joker stepping out of the shadows. On the other end of the stage was Cassie Cage, dressed inher Harley Quinn outfit. The two traded verbal barbs, with the Joker having his iconic laugh, purple and green suit, as well as his grin that never seems to fade.
Interested fans as well as Kombat Pack owners don’t have to wait to long to go hands on with the Clown Prince of Crime. As the footage reveals, Joker will be arriving on January 28, though fans can expect to see and hear plenty more before then.
It’ll be interesting to see how fans take to the newest version of the iconic DC Comics villain. When he was firstrevealed inside of the Kombat Pack trailerearlier this year, most hated how the character looked. Although many lamented the fact that a DC character had invaded the Mortal Kombat roster instead of someone like Ash Williams, the main issue for many was that he almost appeared too clean cut almost like as if he was someone pretending to be the Joker.
While the new footage is very short, it seems NetherRealm made a few tweaks to his look, especially in the face. The lines are more visible, the makeup looks a bit more like it was quickly put on without much care, and the shape of his head is much less round and bit longer as the character is typically shown. Manyfans asked for a redesignand while NetherRealm likely didn’t go that far, it appears that they made a few tweaks to better represent the character.
Mortal Kombat 11is out now for PC, PS4, Stadia, Switch, and Xbox One.
