Summary

It’s safe to sayFallout 76was apretty controversial gamewhen it launched. Fans of the series had a lot to complain about, but one thing many players actually liked was its setting.

Whereas most games in the series have been set in barren wastelands surrounding destroyed cities,Fallout 76is set in the mostly green and luscious Appalachia. Goodbye ruined, gray cityscapes. Hello, stunning mountain ranges, overgrown forests, and flooded swamps.Falloutgames have never been known for being pretty, and to be fair,Fallout 76isn’t exactly a graphical powerhouse. However, if players take the time to stop and look around, they’ll find many of its views are truly breathtaking.

1The View From Surly’s Shack

Visit At Night

The Toxic Valley is probablyFallout 76’s least scenic region. It’s a heavily polluted and irradiated wasteland with little going for it.Falloutis one of theworst post-apocalyptic game worldsto live in, and the Toxic Valley is one of the worst places in it.

However, there is still beauty to be found in the hideous. If players travel to the western edge of the Toxic Valley, they’ll find Surly’s Shack. At night, the Toxic Valley’s irradiated wastes light up, and the view from this shack becomes surprisingly pretty. There’s still not that much to do in the region, but at least it has something going for it.

Perfect For A Spiritual Retreat

Fallout 76is one of theharderFalloutGamesand moments of calm relaxation are few and far between. If it’s all getting a bit overwhelming, players can head to the Palace of the Winding Path for some guided meditation.

The palace itself is easily the prettiest building inFallout 76(even if it is infested with scorched) and the cliffs surrounding it offer impressive views of the Toxic Valley. It’s a great spot for player bases and is home to one of the most popular public events in the game.

View from Landview Lighthouse

3Landview Lighthouse

A Green And Pleasant Land

Why doesFallout 76have a lighthouse in the middle of a forested area with no ocean in sight? Nobody knows. It is, however, a great place for a picnic.

Found a little way southeast of Vault 76, the lighthouse is one of the best spots for taking pictures of the Forest area. Climb to the top and it’s all green trees and verdant hills as far as the eye can see. Just watch out for the Mothman, one ofFallout 76’s top-tier cryptids.

Take In The View

Getting to the cliffs surrounding the Freak Show site is no easy task and players will have to traverse some of the Savage Divide’s most perilous roads to get there. It’s quite the trek, but thankfully, the view is worth it.

From the cliffs surrounding the Freak Show players can take in Cranberry Bog, the edge of the Mire, and the towers of Watoga. Few other places in Appalachia cram so many different features into one breathtaking view.

View of the Forest from the Pigsty location

5The Pigsty

The Blood Eagles Have Taste

The Blood Eagles might be murderous psychopaths, but at least their bases always have great views. Located in the hills west of Whitespings, the Pigsty offers enticing views of the Forest, Ash Heap, and Summersville Lake.

It’s a nice combination of biomes, especially with the lake in the foreground. The Pigsty itself is pretty heavily defended and designed for close-quarters combat, so tourists will want tobring a good shotgunto take care of the locals.

View from Uncharted Caverns of the Forest area

6Uncharted Caverns

Before the bombs fell, the Uncharted Caverns were one of the most popular tourist sites in Appalachia. Visitors brave enough to climb up the surrounding rocks will get amazing panoramic views of the Forest and Summersville Lake for their troubles.

The Forest isFallout 76’s prettiest biome and the Uncharted Caverns area gives the best view from the south. Besides the view, there’s not much else going on in the area, and next to no enemies, making this the perfect spot to sit back and take a break.

View from Vault 76

7Vault 76

Home Sweet Home

Fallout 76is anopen-world game where everything is optional. It just wants players to go out and explore its world and the view from Vault 76 does a great job of making players want to do just that.

This vista is the first thing beginners will see when leaving the vault and encapsulates much of what makesFallout 76’s map special. It’s all lush forest and rolling hills and makes it feel like players can walk in any direction for hours.

View from Top of the World

8Top Of The World Cliffs

A Bird’s Eye View

The Top of the World is located right in the center of the Savage Divide and offers some of the best views inFallout 76. To the west, it has impressive views of the Forest and the Ash Heap; to the east, it has the Mire and Cranberry Bog.

Despite the fact players will have to return here countless times for Rose’s quests, the Top of the World isn’t a free fast-travel location. Considering its central location, great views and the amount of times players will have to come back, it makes the cliffs surrounding the Top of the World agreat spot for a camp location.

View from monorail elevator

9Monorail Elevator

All About The View

The monorail elevator is located in a mountain pass roughly halfway between Foundation and Watoga. At first glance, it seems like a weird location - despite having its own artwork on the world map, it doesn’t seem to serve any kind of function besides being a fusion core spawn point.

However, if curious players take a look around, they’ll find an elevator that takes them hundreds of feet into the air. The actual monorail may have been destroyed, but what’s left is arguably the best sight inFallout 76. Players can see Cranberry Bog in all its glory with Watoga at the center. From ground level, Cranberry Bog isn’t very pretty but from the sky it’s something else entirely. It feels like the developers included the Monorail Elevator for the sole purpose of showing off how prettyFallout 76’s map can be.
