Unsurprisingly, they all feature powerful protagonists to an extent, with each character ranking among their respective universe’s strongest fighters or mages.
Despite being a common criticism of isekai anime, overpowered main characters are also part of the reason these types of stories are so successful. They provide (at times) a carefree escape from reality, allowing viewers to watch an “ordinary” guy or girl rediscover themselves as a hero like in the fantasy stories of old. While most Isekai protagonists are simply handed overwhelming powers,Mushoku Tenseimakes Rudy work for it to an extent. Due to his circumstances, Rudy started developing his magic at a very young age, allowing him to grow exponentially and far exceed the norm. By the time he starts attending Ranoa Magic Academy, the protagonist is a prodigy and one of the strongest human magicians in the world, along with being a competent swordsman due to his father’s training.
Rudy’s strength lies in his proficiency in various magic types, allowing him to use most elements and support skills rather than just specializing in a single section. He is also quite intelligent and knows how to use his strengths to minimize his weaknesses. As talented and capable as he is,Rudy is only overpowered when compared to other humans, and he is nowhere near the level ofMushoku Tensei’s gods. Also, he is generally useless in a non-magic fight since he cannot boost his physical abilities.
Shin was the fastest player to reach maxed stats
As the greatest player of anMMO that trapped its users, Shin took on the responsibility of clearing the final boss, allowing everyone to escape. Unfortunately, he is not only an exception, but he is also teleported 500 years into this world’s future.
While still technically at the same level as before, Shin’s stats were amplified significantly during this process, transforming him from a powerful to an overpowered character. The Spring 2024 isekai protagonist is so broken that he easily defeats a level 800+ monster (with a minor and seemingly unnecessary assist from an NPC ally). As a slow life story that focuses mostly on carefree adventuring,The New Gatedoes not go out of its way to showcase Shin’s power, but his small demonstrations nearly always spark shocked reactions from everyone around him.
Defeats Minokichi, Kanami, and Asue single-handedly
Eating his way to the top,Gobou embraces his new life as a goblin, particularly when he realizes that he can learn new abilities by consuming monsters. This skill is actually a leftover from his previous life as a human, although it has more benefits in a fantasy world that utilizes MMO-style mechanics. Within just 20 days, Rou acquires powers like pyrokinesis, multiple languages, and prediction, and those are just the tip of the iceberg.
The more powerful Rou grows, the stronger enemies he can defeat, essentially putting him on a one-way path toward becoming this world’s ruler. Despite being roughly a month old, he can already wipe out human armies without breaking a sweat. If he prefers not to get his hands dirty, he can just summon skeletons; alternatively, he can rain spears on enemies from a safe distance.
Most importantly, Rou has no qualms about taking advantage of his unique power-up technique. He can be vicious and cruel, setting him apart from most ofSpring 2024’s strongest isekai protagonists.
Demon Slime

Similar toRe:Monster’s Rou,That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime’s Rimuru learns new skills through absorption, a slightly less gross process that ultimately serves the same function. As he has been around for a while by this point in the anime, Rimuru has amassed a way more impressive range of abilities, to the point of defeating a Demon Lord and assuming his place in the hierarchy. The latter allowed Rimuru to evolve into a demon slime, greatly ramping up his base abilities like regeneration and Haki.
Presently, Rimuru has access to four Ultimate skills that, effectively, contain his most powerful and important abilities. Raphael is arguably the most important since it analyzes situations for Rimuru, granting him a tactical advantage. Raphael also allows Rimuru to take full advantage of Uriel, a skill that grants the protagonist mastery over an entity as long as he understands it.
Everything combined, Rimuru puts to shamemostcreatures in his universe; however, he has his limits. As far as demon lords are concerned, Rimuru is among the order’s weaker members at the moment. While he can put up a fight against most of them, the protagonist would lose convincingly against the likes of Guy or Milim.
Unlocked the Infinite stats after reaching only Level 2
Themost powerful Spring 2024 Isekai anime protagonistis Flio fromChillin' in Another World With Level 2 Super Cheat Powers, and it is not particularly close. Hailing from a fantasy realm, Flio finds himself summoned by another world’s human kingdom to act as its hero; however, as he seems powerless, he is dismissed and effectively sent out to die. Once on his own, Flio manages to level up, unlocking his extraordinary potential as he gains infinite stats while also picking up the ability to learn magic through sight. From this point on, Flio is untouchable, a fact he shows off by defeating one of the most powerful demons in this world before the protagonist even knows what he is doing.
Fenrys is also very, very powerful, and she is essentiallyChillin' in Another World With Level 2 Super Cheat Powers' co-lead.
As a pacifist who just wants to be left alone with his lupine wife (Fenrys) and a few platonic female friends, Flio keeps his skills hidden for the most part, only using them in dire situations. One such event occurrs when Hiya, an extremely powerful djinn, kills Fenrys; in response, Flio reverses time and then destroys Hiya while negating her magic. In this universe, djinn are immune to physical harm, but the protagonist defeats one of the species' strongest members by simply punching them.
