MultiVersus, despite doing many things right, has slowly started to fade out of the spotlight. Whether this is due to issues with hit boxes and balancing, a lack of additional stages to match the growing roster, or gamers simply moving on to other games, the massively successful title feels less prominent than it once was. However, expanding to a new audience with aNintendo Switchport could be a great way to get eyes back on the game.

Though some Nintendo Switch players will remain content withSuper Smash Bros. Ultimateand its absurd roster, and many will be busy withPokemon Scarlet and Violetfor the foreseeable future, the free-to-play nature ofMultiVersuscould help it thrive on the platform. No Switch port is currently confirmed, but hopefully, one is announced by Player First Games sooner rather than later.

MultiVersus Would Translate Perfectly To Switch

Much like howFall Guys’ transitioned well to the Nintendo Switch,MultiVersuswould likely do the same. While the game is not ugly by any means, its cartoony visual style means that it is not too demanding and runs well on any platform. As such, it would likely play fine on the Switch, lacking a bit of the visual fidelity seen on other platforms but being the same core experience overall. Hopefully, it would have decent load times, as this is one area whereFall Guysstruggles on the Switch.

MultiVersus’ gameplay loopwould also translate well to the pick up and play nature of Nintendo’s hybrid console. Being able to hop on for a handful of games to finish up daily challenges while on the go, or while laying around in bed, could be a huge benefit. With quick games being a defining trait ofMultiVersus, it seems like it would be an ideal game for the Switch.

Cross-progression would be an important feature ifPlayer First Gameswanted to make a Switch version worthwhile, though. Being able to progress the battle pass on a PC or console and then continue to work through it on the Switch would be very convenient, but more importantly, players have already spent months working on battle passes and building up an array of cosmetics for their fighters. Asking existing players to rebuy outfits or unlock items again would be a mistake. Though the primary goal with a Switch port would be expanding the player base, it should not discourage returning players from making use of it too.

The Switch Version of MultiVersus Could Be a More Complete Package

Assuming that the hypothetical Switch version ofMultiVersuscomes later on instead of being a surprise drop that happens soon, it may not be available until after the game has exited its beta and is in a more complete state.MultiVersushas slowly been adding features like ranked playand a shop, and by the time the beta is finished, it could have a full suite of content. In turn, Switch users would have access to a larger roster and more features from the start.

Though the lacking power of the Nintendo Switch means that many games cannot run on the platform, those that can should not miss out on the opportunity. The Switch has been hugely successful for Nintendo despite its limited graphical capabilities, meaning there is a large, untapped audience forMultiVersusto reach. With a free-to-play model, Player First Games might just be able to win over some of theSmash Bros.crowd. Further, if cross-progression is present, the convenience of the Switch could push some lapsed players to hop back into the game for some more fights.

MultiVersusis available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
