Netflixhas a new teaser for its upcoming live-actionResident Evilseries. Although it is brief, the teaser shows a classic monster that fans will remember from theResident Evilvideo games.
Netflix’s upcomingResident Evilseries is not to be confused with the recently released film,Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City, as it will be an entirely different live-action adaptation of the popular video game franchise. The cast for Netflix’sResident Evilseries was revealed a little while back, and it seems like this take on the story is going to take some creative liberties with the source material, which may mean the story will be something compelling.

The teaser for Netflix’sResident Evilseries shows the iconic zombie dog Cerberus, who makes an appearance throughout the games to show the virus' spread beyond the human population. The dog plays differently ineach of theResident Evilgames. In some of them, the dog straight up attacks without warning, while others have the dog walk up slowly before undergoing a monstrous transformation and attacking the player.
Resident Evilgames aren’t known for having the greatest stories, so it’ll be interesting to see how Netflix’s series shapes up. While the teaser offers no hint at the storyline, the series boasts a cast of talented actors and is said to take the script on a route that may differ from the games.John Wickstar Lance Reddick, Ella Balinska (Charlie’s Angels), Tamara Smart (Artemis Fowl), Siena Agudong (No Good Nick), Adeline Rudolph (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina), and Paola Núñez (The Purge) are all cast in this upcoming video game adaptation.
Resident Evilisn’t typically known for having good adaptations, and neither are video games as a whole. Most video games focus more on gameplay than the story, but they’ve become more widely regarded as legitimate art forms in the past decade or so. It just becomes challenging to port the story from one medium to another. Right now, there are more and more video game adaptations being picked up and released, and fans deserve a film or series that shocks the world with universal acclaim.
TheResident Evilteaser really did a good job at capturing the dog’s viciousness. It also set the mood of horror that will be an obvious prevalent theme in the show.TheResident Evilfranchiseis known for being dark, gritty, and horrifying, so here’s to hoping the show does very well when it releases on Netflix.
