Good Morning America debuted a new clip ofHawkeyecourtesy of its star, Jeremy Renner. In the clip, Barton isjoined by Kate Bishop (Steinfeld)as they navigate the busy streets of New York. Behind them, a young child acknowledges that there is a hero not far off in the distance. The comment catches the attention of Barton and Bishop, who anticipate the child to approach them. The young child is encouraged by his mother to go and say hello, but the child darts past Barton and Bishop, going to acknowledge a group of cosplayers, including a woman dressed as Katniss Everdeen.
The Everdeen cosplayer is joined by others dressed as Thor, Ant-Man, Hulk, Captain America, and Iron Man. Bishop suggests the woman is dressed as Barton, but he corrects her, insisting that the woman isdressed asHunger Games' Katniss Everdeen. Bishop shrugs and remarks that Barton’s issue is effective branding, which might’ve led someone to dress up as him. Unamused, Barton insists that his own issue is Bishop and the trouble she has pulled him into. He reminds her that his only task is to help solve their problem so that he can get home to his family for the holidays.
Hawkeyewill mark Marvel Studios' fifth series to premiere on Disney Plus. The archer series was preceded by the Emmy Award-winningWandaVision,The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Loki, andWhat If…?The newest Disney Plus series will not only introduce new characters like Bishop into the Marvel fold, but it will also continue to develop characters from other MCU stories as well. Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova is expected to appear in the series, hunting Barton as a result of Natasha’s death inAvengers: Endgame.
The archer-inspired series will spotlight a Marvel hero who hasn’t received much of the Avengers spotlight. Barton was absent duringAvengers: Infinity War, insisting he was retired following the government issues that happened as a result ofCaptain America: Civil War. Barton would return inEndgameafter his family was blipped to help the Avengers bring everyone back. While Barton isn’t one of the most popular Avengers, he does have an interesting story that will be further explored inHawkeye.
