While many fans have been excited for the release of Ubisoft’sWatch Dogs: Legion, others have another open-world game from the developer on their minds: the action RPG inspired by Greek mythology,Immortals Fenyx Rising.Early previews for the game have been generally positive, with many describing it as a more structuredZelda: Breath of the Wild. Now, it seems Ubisoft is ready to show players more ofFenyx Rising’s gameplay, as it unveiled new trailer showcasing the game’s combat.

This new trailer forImmortals Fenyx Risingdebuted during today’sNintendo Direct Mini: Partner Showcase. The trailer shows players able to equip Fenyx with three different types of weapons. For players looking to attack quickly, the sword will likely be their closest ally. Players that prefer a hard-hitting, heavy style will want to use the axe. Finally, players that prefer to deal with enemies from a distance can equip Fenyx with a bow and quiver full of arrows.

While this may seem to imply that players will have to choose a fighting style and stick with it, Ubisoft has confirmed that is not the case. The trailer forImmortals Fenyx Risinginforms players that they will be able to switch between weapons on the fly, even while fighting enemies. This feature was shown during the trailer as Fenyx battles their way througha horde of mythological monstrosities.

The trailer doesn’t limit itself just to combat, however. Players were also shown brief glimpses of various forms of exploration, as well as puzzle-solving mechanics for the game with Fenyx using their bow to activate moving platforms. By solving these puzzles, players will be rewarded withdifferent boons and gifts from the gods of the Greek pantheon, seemingly making Fenyx stronger in the process.

WhileImmortals Fenyx Risingseems to be Ubisoft’s attempt at creating a fun, new IP, some players have been less supportive. Some have elected to leave comments for the trailer on YouTube stating that the game looks like aBreath of the Wildclone. This isn’t the first comparison to the critically-acclaimedZeldagame this year, as miHoYo’s gacha gameGenshin Impacthas faced a similar comparison. Hopefully whenImmortalslaunches on December 3, Fenyx will be able to rise to the occasion and silence the naysayers.

Immortals Fenyx Risingreleases on Aug 01, 2025 for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
