There are many monsters that players will encounter as they go through Bethesda’sThe Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim. One of the iconic monsters that players can spot while roaming around theopen fields ofSkyrimare the giants, and many members of the game’s community likely have memorable first encounters with these foes back when they first started the game. Now, another player has learned more about these dangerous monsters, albeit the hard way, just as they began their adventures in the action RPG.
Despite the different types of enemies that players will have to fight in the video game, the player will likely agree that dragons still remain asSkyrim’s main focal point. Theopening scene ofSkyrimimmediately introduces players to the dangers of dragons, and clearly sets their role in the action RPG. However, the community still seems to find encounters withSkyrimgiants both full of danger and humor, given how many victims these monsters have claimed since the game’s release in 2011.

New toSkyrim, Redditor geesevillian shared a video of their first experience with a giant in the game. In the footage, the player’s point-of-view shows them approaching the giant from behind then backing off when the monster spawns its weapon out of nowhere. Seemingly itching for a fight, geesevillian draws out theirSkyrimweapon of choice, but is easily overpowered by one swing from the giant. According to the post’s caption, the Redditor assumed the giant was friendly and approached it to see if they could talk to the monster.
Though theSkyrimcommunity has likely seen numerous first encounters with giants by newbie players, geesevillian’s Reddit post has still garnered many views and comments from fellow fans. Many comments poked good fun about the Redditor’s experience, referencing to the game’s Cloud District, which can be found in Whiterun,one of Skyrim’s many cities. Other commenters also pointed out that the Redditor decided to face the giant with a greatsword. Given how slow a greatsword is in a fight, the community knew that geesevillian would likely be sent flying by the monster.
Geesevillian’s first fight with aSkyrimgiant may not be a pleasant one, but the community offered their sympathies and stated that the Redditor will eventually be able to defeat them once they have geared up enough. Hopefully this fight does not deter the player from continuing their journey acrossSkyrim, and that they will look forward to the time their character will be strong enough to exact revenge on the giants inSkyrim.
