Tony Hawk’s Pro Skaterwas once one of the premiere video game franchises available, with each entry selling millions of copies and earning rave reviews from critics. Unfortunately, theTony Hawkseries experienced a steep decline in quality, to the point where2015’sTony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5was universally panned. TheTony Hawkseries has been quiet since then, save for theSkate Jammobile game, but now it appears as though a new entry in the series is right around the corner.
Experimental punk rock band The Death Set confirmed on its Facebook page that it had licensed five new songs to “Tony Hawk2020 game” and that fans would be hearing the music soon. The Death Set at first had the post pinned to the top of its Facebook page, but it has since been deleted. It appears as though The Death Set made the announcement prematurely, especially since a newTony Hawkgame hasn’t even been announced.

While a newTony Hawkgame hasn’t been announced, this isn’t the first time that we’ve heard of a possible new entry in the series. In fact, rumors were swirling at the end of last year that thenextTony Hawkvideo gameswould actually be remakes or remasters of the original games as opposed to a full-fledged sequel.
Credible video game industry leakers have said that Activision hasTony Hawk’s Pro Skaterremakesin the works in some capacity, so it will be interesting to see what form they take. Activision has openly admitted that it plans on pursuing more remakes and remasters moving forward, and considering the sheer popularity of the olderTony Hawkgames, they seem like obvious choices for remake projects.
Of course, it’s worth pointing out that there have beenTony Hawkvideo game leaks that have turned out to be untrue. For example, there was a “leak” that said anewTony Hawkgame would be announced at The Game Awards 2019, but that event came and went without any such announcement. Considering this, fans should take anyTony Hawkleaks or rumors with a grain of salt, even when they appear to come from legitimate sources like this one.
It’s also worth pointing out thatTony Hawksaid in the past that he was done withPro Skatergames, so it’s unclear how that would work out. Luckily, if a newTony Hawkvideo game is in the works, The Death Set’s leak indicates that a reveal could be happening sooner rather than later.
