Jesus Burgess is one of the membersof the Blackbeard Piratesand an incredibly capable fighter in the world of One Piece. Introduced in the story before the two-year timeskip, Burgess made his debut during the Jaya arc and has, since then, gained quite a lot of importance in the story. He was revealed to be one of the four mostimportant crewmates of Blackbeardand this state of affairs continues to be maintained even today, as is evident from the fact that he is the Captain of the First Ship of the crew.

After the two-year timeskip, Burgess was revealed to have grown quite powerful and he made his presence known during the Dressrosa arc of the series. There, he fought against Sabo and, while he lost bitterly, he made it to the end of the Corrida Colosseum tournament quite easily. Now, following the events of the Wano country arc, he has grown even stronger, thanks to the acquisition of the Riki Riki no Mi.
What Is The Riki Riki no Mi?
The Riki Riki no Mi is an incredible Paramecia-type of Devil Fruit that Burgess acquired at some point after the events ofthe Wano Country arc. This is evident from the fact that he did not have this power during the Dressrosa arc, otherwise he would have used it against Sabo and the other fighters in the Corrida Colosseum. The Blackbeard crew is known to be on the hunt for powerful ability users and steal their Devil Fruits. As such, it is quite likely that Burgess stole the fruit from someone. Sadly, the former user of this ability remains unknown, however, that matters little to the story right now. Jesus Burgess demonstrated the powers of the Riki Riki no Mi quite recently, when the Blackbeard Pirates ambushed the Heart Pirates in the New World.
There, when Auger teleported him to an island where Law attempted to take refuge, Burgess was seen lifting an entire mountain with ease and hurling it towards Law and his crew. This feat was made possible with the powers of the Riki Riki no Mi. As is evident from its application, the Riki Riki no Miis a Paramecia type of Devil Fruitthat grants tremendous amounts of strength to its user. The working mechanism of this Devil Fruit is quite easy. It simply boosts the strength of the user manifold and makes them a powerhouse in combat.

How The Riki Riki no Mi Aids Burgess
The Riki Riki no Mi aids Burgess greatly in combat. It grants him a tremendous amount of strength which he desperately needed to maintain his position as one of the 10 Titanic Captains of the Blackbeard Pirates. In the Dressrosa arc, Burgess was seen being less than impressive in his fightagainst the likes of Sabo. While Sabo is extremely powerful, for someone who Captains the First Ship of Blackbeard, the showing was quite underwhelming. As such, this Devil Fruit was desperately needed for someone like Burgess. Fans also know that he isn’t much of a calculating fighter.

As such, a fruit that grants him brute strength is a perfect fit for him. His newfound ability allows him to perform superhuman feats such as lifting entire mountains and, by the looks of it, there doesn’t seem to be a limit to how much strength he has. Even if there are limits, fans have not seen him go all-out yet, meaning the best of his Devil Fruit is still to be seen. When combined with his brilliant Haki, Burgess becomes a force to be reckoned with. His brute strength makes him a threat to even some of the strongest pirates on the seas of theOne Pieceworld and, with time, he will only grow in power and influence and become a world-renowned pirate.
The Future Of Jesus Burgess
Jesus Burgess is a crew member of quite possibly the biggest antagonist in the entireOne Pieceseries. He also captains the first ship of the crew and, as such, his importance to the story is tremendous. In the Final Saga of One Piece, Jesus Burgess will surely play a massive part. Fans will most likely see him clash against the Red Hair Pirates at some point. A clear match for Burgess isn’t known in Shanks’s crew, however, fans can rest assured that it will be one of the strongest members in the pirate crew.
While his potential fight against the Red Hair Pirates would certainly be a treat for the eyes, it is the inevitable clash against the Straw Hat Pirates that has the fans most excited. Burgess is the helmsman of the Blackbeard Pirates and relies heavily on strength in combat. This clearly indicates that his final opponent in the story will be none other than the helmsman of the Straw Hat Pirates and the Knight of the Sea, Jinbe. Both of these fighters rely on Martial Arts and, while one focuses more on brute strength, the other does so on technique and art. Burgess will certainly prove to be an incredibly powerful adversary for Jinbe. Expectedly, the future is quite intriguing for the character of Jesus Burgess and Oda will certainly do him justice, just like the other important members of the Blackbeard Pirates when they eventually step up to fight the Straw Hat Pirates.
