Monkey D. Luffy has grown to become one of the mightiest pirates in the world ofOne Piece. Although Luffy started small from the weakest sea of all, he has made the biggest impact in the Great Pirate Era. From taking down Crocodile to breaking into the government strongholds such as Enies Lobby, and even attacking places such as Impel Down and Marineford, Luffy has amassed great notoriety over the years.
After the timeskip, Luffy has established himself as a formidable pirate in theOne Pieceworld by not only defeating the likes of Doflamingo but also by picking fights with the Yonko such as Big Mom and Kaido and, what’s more, surprisingly even defeating the latter in combat, against all odds. Achieving so many tremendous feats, it’s no surprise that Luffy has acquired incredible bounties in the past. Now thathe’s defeated the strongest creature in the world, he is certainly on the path to acquiring another massive bounty, however, the question remains, how big will his new bounty be?

Luffy’s Bounties Over The Years
Monkey D. Luffy has slowly made quite a name for himselfand acquired massive bounties over the years. Back in the East Blue, Luffy received a huge bounty that was considered unprecedented for an up-and-starting rookie like him. Following the defeat of Don Krieg and then Arlong, Luffy acquired a 30 million berries bounty, which was nothing short of surprising, given that the East Blue is often considered to be the weakest of all the four blues. In doing so, he crossed the highest known bounties in the sea, surpassing Don Krieg’s 17 million by quite a margin as well as Arlong’s 20 million.
In the Grand Line, Luffy once again achieved the impossible by taking on Crocodile in combat during the Alabasta arc. Although Crocodile attempt to knock Luffy down a peg, he eventually failed to do so and ended up falling to the Straw Hat pirate. Crocodile, who was a Shichibukai at this point, had a frozen bounty of 80 million berries which wasn’t small by any means. Despite that, however, he ended up being surpassed by a rookie, who acquired a bounty of 100 million berries – a figure that even surprised the likes of Shanks and Mihawk.

Luffy then acquired a 300 million berries bounty after the events of the Enies Lobby arc where he attacked the government stronghold and was blamed for its utter destruction. Following the Paramount War, Luffy’s bounty went up to 400 million – a figure that indicated that he was now considered to be a veteran pirate. Whar’s more, after the fall of Donquixote Doflamingo, Luffy received a 500 million berries bounty and this figure soon skyrocket to 1.5 billion berries when he infiltrated Big Mom’s country, stole her Poneglyphs, destroyed her castle, ruined her Tea Party, and defeated two of her three strongest commanders, one of which was worth a billion berries. Keeping Katakuri as the standard for the arc, Luffy received a bounty much bigger than him and it is highly likely that Oda will continue with the same pattern moving forward too.
Luffy’s Bounty After Wano War
Luffy taking on Kaido should give him a massive bounty – one that is going to shake the very core of the world. After all, Kaido is known to be the most powerful pirate alive and the strongest creature of all living things as well. He had acquired a bounty of 4,611,100,000 berries, which is also the highest amount for any pirate alive in One Piece. As such Luffy’s bounty should be higher than 4.6 billion berries, following the pattern that Oda has previously used. His bounty is certainly going to be closer to 5 billion berries or even more than that.Given that Luffy has defeated Kaido, the numbers on his head should certainly skyrocket to that amount, however, that’s not the only factor that comes into play while deciding bounties. As Aokiji explained during the Long Ring Long Land arc, bounties are influenced by two factors. The first is the strength of the individual, which is pretty straightforward. When it comes to Luffy, his strength will be considered to be immense as he defeated the world’s strongest creature.
The second most important factor when deciding on bounties is the threat that the user poses to the Government. Luffy was recently revealed to bethe user of the Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika– a fruit the existence of which puts fear into the Gorosei. This fruit goes against everything that the World Government aim to accomplish and makes Luffy their natural enemy. Now that he has awakened its powers and become “the Warrior of Liberation,” he’s likely to become the biggest threat to the World Government. As such, Luffy would be one of the highest people on their list of people to stop or take out. Luffy checks both the boxes for being the most influential pirate on the seas and would thus deserve the highest active bounty currently. At the same time, fans must remember that Oda loves his wordplay in Japanese, and if we had to guess, Luffy’s bounty could be close to 5,295,600,000 berries.
