The Year of the Tiger has just begun, bringing the world into the third year of the Chinese lunar calendar.Overwatchis currently celebrating the Lunar New Year with a variety of festive new skins, returning brawls, and weekly rewards for players to unlock.A number of older skins from previousOverwatchLunar New Year eventsare returning, which will give new players a chance to snap up classic cosmetics. The clip serves as anintroduction to Nezha Tracer, Seolbim Mercy, Prosperity Ashe, Auspicious Soldier: 76, and Porcelain Wrecking Ball. Each of these new skins features festive design elements drawing on culture, mythology, history from China and neighboring Asian countries, as well as the specific imagery of the Lunar New Year. The video pays special attention to Nezha Tracer, which is the first new skin to be shown off.
Every week, players will be able to unlock sprays, player icons, and three festive skins by playing matches in Quick Play, Competitive Play, or the Arcade. From January 25 to February 1, players will be able to unlock theLunar New Year skinProsperity Ashe Epic Skin, which dresses Ashe and B.O.B. up in elegant red and gold for the season. Week 2, which lasts from February 1 to February 8, will allow players to get their hands on the scarred but stately Auspicious Soldier: 76 Epic Skin. Week 3 will last from February 8 to February 15 and give players a shot at Porcelain Wrecking Ball, which dresses up the hamster in a small red suit and decorates his mech to look like it’s made from fine Chinese porcelain.
Players will also be able to celebrate the holiday by taking part in several returning festive events. This year, players are invited to enter the brawl as a Bounty Hunter and rack up as many points as possible, enjoy aclassic mode in Capture The Flag, or raise the stakes in Capture The Flag Blitz. There are also Lunar Loot Boxes available for fans who are willing to pay.
