Sony’sPlayStationconsole burst on the scenes in the mid-90s, giving Nintendo a run for its money and becoming the video game industry leader in the process. A big reason why thePS1was such a monumental success was due to its incredible library of games, ranging from 3D platformers to survival-horror titles to sports games, the PS1 library is one of the deepest and most impressive in history.
Like many PS1 owners, Reddit user mab1984 built up an impressive collection of games for the console. His collection included some of the most highly-rated games that were ever released for the system, includingFinal Fantasy 7through9, the spin-off games, and theFinal Fantasy AnthologyandOriginscollections. Mab1984’s PS1 collection also features theResident EvilPS1 games,Silent Hill, the first twoCrash Bandicootgames,Tekken 2and3, the originalGrand Theft Auto, and many more.

This is an extremely solid collection ofPS1 titles, but it seems mab1984 must’ve misplaced them at some point. They say that they have been “wanting them back for so long,” but just recently found their collection again. Apparently mab1984’s collection of PS1 games were stashed away in a tote and put in his parents' attic.
PS1 game pricesare through the roof along with most other retro games, and so mab1984 could probably sell their collection for a decent chunk of change if they so desired. But since it took them so long to find their missing collection of PS1 games, that seems unlikely. In the comments on the Reddit post, mab1984 noted how they even wrote down when they managed to complete each game, so there’s definitely some sentimental value and nostalgia tied to the collection.
Anyone wanting to get physical copies of many PS1 games can expect to spend quite a bit of money, depending on the game, of course. There aresome PS1 games that are super expensive, whereas others are available for incredibly cheap in the right stores. Those who just want to play the games and don’t care about collecting them have some other options, thankfully.
Classic PS1 games are currently available to download on the PlayStation Store for legacy platforms like the PS3 and PS Vita.Sony had planned on shutting down the PlayStation Storeon its legacy platforms but changed its mind after significant fan backlash. It will happen eventually though, so anyone interested in playing these retro PS1 games should seek them out while they still have the chance.
