Summary

APokemonfan has recently created crocheted versions of the three Hoenn starters: Treecko, Torchic, and Mudkip. ThePokemoncommunity expresses its love for the franchise in many ways, whether by designing brand-new forms for classic creatures, drawing innovative Paradox Pokemon, or handcrafting adorable crocheted plushies like these.

Pokemon Ruby and Sapphirewere released back in 2002 and were set in the region of Hoenn. These games brought an additional 135 creatures to be captured by players and featured starters that are still considered amongthe bestPokemonstarter trioseven after many years. While Treecko was a curious plant-based version of a lizard, Torchic was a small Fire-type bird, and Mudkip looked like a weird but sympathetic amphibian. It was a good combination that made for memorable characters. In the 2014 remakes, these Pokemon received Mega Evolutions and continued to appear in some games of the franchise, as they were loved by many fans.

Now, onePokemonfan called Harrybenney decided to share their latest creation on social media: crochet versions of the three Hoenn starters. Each one of these carefully made crocheted plushies looks very good, resembling their official counterparts. While they are generally rounder and shorter than their anime and gaming versions, they still look adorable. In general, these Pokemon seem very expressive, as they come with lifelike anime eyes, especially in Treecko’s case, as it looks somewhat angry in the plush.

Creatures like Torchic are so popular that it’s not hard to find other fans who have turned them into plushies. For instance, aPokemonfan recently crocheted an amazing collection, which includes Torchic, Pichu, Squirtle, Mew, Gengar, Togepi, Starmie, and others. The Torchic handcrafted by this fan is similar to the one made by Harrybenney, but it comes with larger eyes and a somewhat rounder shape.

While plushies are very popular amongPokemonfans, some people prefer to depict these classic characters in other ways. For instance, anotherPokemonfan redesigned Gen 3 starters using Gen 1art last year. At the time, the artist made low-res sprite versions of these creatures as they would be if they werePokemon Red and Bluecharacters, striking an excellent balance between making them with not many pixels and still remaining faithful. Hopefully,Pokemonfans will continue to make other versions of the adorable Gen 3 in the future, be them in drawings, plushies, or any other form they can think of.
