It’s fair to say thatPokemonfans are some of the most artistically talented people of any fandom in pop culture. This is regularly reinforced by the near-constant stream of impressivePokemonartwork that regularly make the rounds around the internet. One creation in particular has been catching the eye of quite a few fans: an origami figure of Metagross.

Originally introduced in the third generation ofPokemon, Metagross is a Steel/Psychic-type evolving from Metang. The final evolution of Beldum, the powerful Pokemon was unfortunately one of the omitted creatures in the franchise’s most recent entryPokemon Legends: Arceus. However,Metagross is catchable inPokemon Brilliant DiamondandShining Pearl, and is one of the more powerful non-legendary Pokemon in the game.

ThePokemonfan artist in question goes by the name of ino87, and has posted an image showcasing the impressively detailed origami rendition of Metagross. The artist manages to recreate nearly every detail ofthe extremely strong and uniquely-shaped Pokemon. Its four legs are all accurately positioned, as is their proportion to the main disc-shaped head/body. The origami Metagross’s color, while more vivid than usual, still gets close to the Pokemon’s distinct turquoise coloring. In addition to incorporating the metallic cross, one of the most admirable aspects of the artwork is Metagross’s overall stance, with its thin claws supporting its entire body.

While the origami Metagross is certainly impressive, earning plenty of likes, it’s actually far from the first of its kind from ino87. A bit of aPokemonorigami expert, ino87 has made a wide variety of folded paper creations featuring various Pokemon from across the franchise’s extensive history. A few months ago, the artist garnered several hundred responses for theirimpressive origami of Shaymin. Opting for the changeable Pokemon’s land form, the artist again does an excellent job at capturing the creature’s features, including its green grass-like fur and Gracidea flowers.

In addition to origami, one of the other hottestPokemonfan art trends is drawing Pokemon in other various art styles. Several months ago, a fan went viral for creatively drawing a variety of Pokemon in the style ofLilo and Stitch, including Charmander, Sandslash, and Cyndaquil. The same artist has followed-up on their project withmore Pokemon in theLilo and Stitchart style, like Bulbasaur, Koffing, and Pikachu, all reworked with features closely resembling those of Stitch and his other fellow experiments. The wildly varying art forms are a testament to just how creative thePokemonfandom truly is.
