A new mythical Pokemon has come toPokemon GOwith the new Misunderstood Mischief special research tasks. This Pokemon is Hoopa, a dual Psychic and Ghost-type originally from the Kalos region. Its Confined form can be obtained after completing the required special research tasks.
This task series can be automatically started by opening up thePokemon GOapp at this time. It has sixteen steps in total, with new research tasks being revealed and available for completion over the course of the Season of Mischief event. This event will be running from September 1st, 2021, to December 1st, 2021, so there will likely be a lot of time spread out between research tasks being revealed.

Because of the nature of these special research tasks, not all of them are public knowledge as of this writing. This guide will continue to be updated as each of the new tasks are revealed, so that way trainers can prepare for what’s in store for them.

By completing all of these tasks, players are rewarded with a Gothita encounter and 500 stardust. Gothita is a purePsychic-type Pokemonthat can evolve into Gothorita with 25 Gothita candies. Gothorita can then evolve into Gothitelle with 100 more Gothita candies.

Three Max Revives
Completing this task will give players the reward of 500 Stardust and an encounter with Confined Hoopa. Thismythical Pokemonis a dual Psychic and Ghost-type, making it weak to Ghost and Dark-type moves. It also resists damage from Poison, Psychic, Normal, and Fighting-type moves.

Ten Revives
After completing this step, players will get the additional reward of a Wobbuffet encounter, ten Hyper Potions, and ten Inkay Candies. Players additionally unlock access to the next task steps.

Once all of the tasks in this step are done, players will be able to claim a Minccino encounter, anUnova Stone, and fifteen Furfrou Candies.
Misunderstood Mischief Step Eight
At this time, the only note for this step is, “Professor Willowis currently performing an investigation regarding this research. Check back for more details soon!” That means this task won’t be revealed until the future.
What to Expect from Unbound Hoopa
With Confined Hoopa being available so early,Unbound Hoopamay be coming alongside these tasks as well. This Pokemon is dual Psychic and Dark-type, unlike Confined Hoopa. This makes it weak to Bug and Fairy-type moves while only resisting Psychic-type moves.
