As with all previousPokemongames,Pokemon ScarletandVioletwill feature a mix of brand-new Pokemon and returning Pokemon from previous generations. So far, the two trailers that have been released forPokemon Scarlet and Violetshow a varied mix of creatures from all eight previous generations, as well as a handful of brand-new Pokemon including both common early game Pokemon and ultra-rare Legendaries.

Thesecond trailer forPokemon Scarlet and Violet, which was released on Jun 09, 2025, nearly doubled the amount of Pokemon confirmed to appear in the ninth generation of games. In addition to introducing new Professors and other characters, it showed off returning Pokemon from Kanto to Galar, as well as several new creatures joining the world ofPokemonfor the first time inScarletandViolet.Strictly speaking, it’s possible thatScarletandVioletcould introduce new evolutions for familiar faces, so it’s hard to say if the following Pokemon from theScarletandViolettrailers will all use the same evolution lines or if Game Freak has some surprises in store.

Every Kanto Pokemon Confirmed

The original 151 Pokemon still remain extremely popular, so fans were not surprised to see many Pokemon originating in theKanto regionappearing inScarlet and Violet. So far, this region features the most representation, with a total of seven confirmed Pokemon, including recurring franchise mascot Pikachu.

Additionally, though a live Dratini has not appeared so far, a fountain bearing the likeness of this Dragon-type Pokemon from Kanto did show up in the first trailer forScarlet and Violet, resulting in fan theories that Dratini will appear in the wild as well.

Every Johto Pokemon Confirmed

The Pokemon returning from theJohto regionofPokemon Gold and Silverare a mixed batch, including a pseudo-legendary in the form of the Larvitar line and an evolution of an original Generation 1 Pokemon in Blissey. Four Johto Pokemon have been shown so far in trailers forScarlet and Violet.

Every Hoenn Pokemon Confirmed

Like Johto, the Hoenn region fromPokemon RubyandSapphirehas four returning Pokemon confirmed so far. There is an emphasis here on Pokemon that could resemble native Spanish wildlife, such as Seviper, supporting fan theories that the still-namelessGeneration 9 region will be based on Spain.

Every Sinnoh Pokemon Confirmed

The Sinnoh region, inspired by the Japanese island of Hokkaido, recently returned to the spotlight in the form of prequel spinoffPokemon Legends: Arceus.Despite the recent focus on Sinnoh, at least four Pokemon from the region will be appearing inScarlet and Violet, including Lucario, who previously represented the franchise in theSuper Smash Bros.series of fighting games.

Additionally, although a Vespiquen has not appeared in either trailer, the Combee shown in the initial trailer possessed the distinctive red facial markings indicating that it is female, indicating that Combee will likely be able to evolve into Vespiquen inPokemon ScarletandViolet.

Every Unova Pokemon Confirmed

Although the Unova region of Generation 5added over 150 new Pokemonto the series, there are surprisingly few Unova Pokemon making an appearance inPokemon Scarlet and Violet.Only two have been seen so far. This may be because the Unova region, which is based on New York in the United States, could be physically far away from the new unnamed region if it is indeed based on Spain.

Additionally, a now-removed image from the game’s Website showed aHisuian Zoruark- a regional variant of a Pokemon first appearing in Unova - appearing inPokemon ScarletandViolet. However, it has not yet been confirmed if this Pokemon will appear or whether it can simply be transferred using the Pokemon HOME service.

Every Kalos Pokemon Confirmed

Four Pokemon from theKalos regionhave shown up in the trailers forPokemon Scarlet and Violet, although two of them are from the same evolutionary line. As with Hoenn and Sinnoh, a surprisingly high number of bird-like and other airborne Pokemon have been shown.

Because both Fletchling and its final evolution Talonflame appear, it is likely that the middle evolution Fletchinder will appear as well. However, Fletchinder has not yet been spotted in any trailers forPokemon ScarletandViolet.

Every Alola Pokemon Confirmed

The tropicalAlola region, first introduced inPokemon Sun and Moon, has so far lent three of its colorful creatures toPokemon ScarletandViolet, including two Grass-types which can be found wandering around the meadows of the game’s open world.

Every Galar Pokemon Confirmed

The most recent generation ofPokemongames will not be neglected, with at least three Pokemon fromSword and Shieldmaking an appearance inScarlet and Violet.Fans were particularly surprised to see Stonjourner, which was based on the English landmark Stonehenge and initially seemed like it might remain unique to theGalar region.

Every New Region Pokemon Confirmed

Of course, a new generation ofPokemongames means tons of new creatures toadd to the Pokedex. So far, fans have gotten glimpses of the three Starter Pokemon, two Legendary Pokemon, and three Pokemon that can be encountered in the early stages of the game. Some were disappointed that the evolutions of the Starter Pokemon were not shown in the latest trailer, while others noted the past and future theme evident in the appearance of the Legendary Pokemon.

The amount of Pokemon seen in just two trailers seems to confirm fan theories thatPokemon Scarlet and Violetwill add many Pokemonfamilies and evolutions to the Pokedex. As there are still several months until the game’s November release, fans are definitely hoping to see even more trailers to confirm more new and returning creatures.
