Nintendo and Game Freak continue to reveal more details aboutPokemon Scarlet and Violetas the games receive the final touches before being released. OnePokemonfan has noticed an important detail regarding the Gen 1 Pokemon Venonat and the upcoming launch ofPokemon Scarlet and Violet.
Pokemon Scarlet and Violetreceived their second trailer at the beginning of June, and the video revealed new details and Pokemon, as well as the Professors that will start the player’s adventure. In addition to the starters Fuecoco, Quaxly, and Sprigatito and freshly unveiledPokemon like Pawmi, Lechonk, and Smoliv, there are returning Pokemon like Flaffy, Meowth, and Pikachu. Reddit user Financial-Channel-71 has also noted thatPokemon Scarlet and Violetwill break a series tradition for Venonat.

DisregardingPokemonremakes, Venonat hasn’t been in a regional Pokedex sincePokemon Gold and Silver, and Financial-Channel-71 has highlighted the milestone for the Poison/Bug-type Pokemon. Since Gen 2, Venonat has only appeared in the popularPokemon GO,Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen,Pokemon HeartGold and SoulSilver, andPokemon Let’s Go Pikachu and Eevee. Venonat’s introduction toPokemon Scarlet and Violetends a long-running streak of brand-newPokemontitles missing the Pokemon, allowing those first starting theirPokemonadventure withPokemon Scarlet and Violetto experience the Gen 1 Pokemon first-hand.
Some Pokemon like theGen 9 startershave been highlighted in combat inPokemon Scarlet and Violet’s two trailers, but Venonat is only shown for a brief moment as it jumps up and down in a field near thePokemontrainer. Though it’s currently unclear why Venonat was left out of titles likePokemon Sun and MoonandPokemon Sword and Shield, manyPokemonfans responding to Financial-Channel-71’s post are celebrating the Pokemon’s return. Because the trailer shows a standard-looking Venonat exploring the open environment, it’s unlikely thatPokemon Scarlet and Violetwill introduce a regional variant of Venonat or Venomoth.
Although somePokemonfans are anticipating the release ofPokemon Scarlet and Violetto add Venonat to their team, others have pointed out that even after evolving into Venomoth, the Pokemon has mediocre stats. BecausePokemonfans have been able to move Pokemon between titles throughPokemon Home, some players have been able to bring Venonat’s from older save files to recent games, but games likePokemon Sword and Shieldhave prevented certain Pokemon from being traded using this method. SomePokemonfans have expressed interest in seeing a Mega Venomoth added to the series now that the Pokemon is making a return, but it’s unlikely thatPokemon Scarlet and Violetwill feature such evolutions.
Pokemon Scarlet and Violetrelease for Nintendo Switch on November 18.
