Pokemon Scarlet and Violetinnovate on the classic formula in numerous ways, but one leap these games do not take is with voice acting. Indeed, becausePokemonfills a hyper-specific niche in the industry, there are several common features in AAA games that fans may not mind passing on.Pokemonwill never be on the cutting edge of graphics, for example, and voice acting falls in line with that too.

However, while many may be okay withPokemon Scarlet and Violet(and perhaps even future gens) not featuring voice acting, some fans really want to see Game Freak push forward with this. In fact, a recent group of voice actors got together to record some lines that appear inPokemon Scarlet and Violet’s three storylines, and it goes to show how much more lively each character is as a result.

As seen in the video below, every character who received voice lines popped more than they did in the games.Nemona’s obsession with battle had renewed emphasis, the scene between Arven and Mabosstiff was more emotional, Penny’s disguise was more intriguing, and even the various bosses of Team Star felt like they had more character to them. It seems no one voiced thePokemon Scarlet and Violetprotagonist, and indeed that may be another line to cross eventually, perhaps. Silent protagonists often appear in games that are otherwise fully voiced, so there’s no real problem with that.

ThisPokemon Scarlet and Violetvideo shows how much voice acting could have improved the games, with many calling on Pokemon Gen 10 to take this leap in a few years. The video was put together by a plethora of voice actors:

Of course, while many are making calls for major changes in Gen 10, that is years away. Gen 9 just got here, and while many are finishing up the games, completing these Pokedexes, and building up a competitive team, some are more focused on DLC. Nothing has been officially announced, butPokemon Scarlet and Violetitself (and leakers) hint at Ultra Beasts, Mega Evolutions, a trip to Kalos, new Paradox Pokemon, and more.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violetare available now, exclusively for Nintendo Switch.
