Pokemon Scarlet and Violethave a pretty solid range of species available to catch, trade, transfer in, and breed, following the addition of theTeal Mask and Indigo Disk DLCs. Among the Pokemon available to transfer over from previous titles intoScarlet and Violet, there is Hisuian Pokemon, the beloved regional variants of certain Pokemon fromPokemon Legends: Arceus’ancient Hisui Region.

However, while these Pokemon can be transferred fromLegends: ArceustoScarlet and Violetand even traded off to other trainerswith no problems,Hisuian Pokemon are not native to the Paldea Region, and therefore cannot be caught during a Scarlet and Violet playthrough. For this reason, players look to other methods for obtaining all available Hisuain Pokemon in the game, such as breeding. However, breeding isn’t always a successful method to use when acquiringRegional variants, so it’s important to know information regarding the benefits and limits of this method when trying to catch em' all.

Can You Breed Hisuian Pokemon in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet?

As it turns out, there is a possibility when it comes to breeding Hisuian Pokemon inPokemon Scarlet and Violet, though there are also some limits to consider, too. Any Pokemon that has a Hisuian pre-evolution can be bred inPokemon Scarlet and Violet, with the egg hatch result being the first stage of Hisuian evolution. For example, breeding a Hisuian Zoroark inScarlet and Violetwill result in the hatching of aHisuian Zorua, which you’re able to choose to keep in its first form, or evolve further into a Hisuian Zoroark.

Other Pokemon that don’t haveHisuian pre-evolutionsare very much out of luck, as they need to be evolved into their Hisuain forms inPokemon Legends: Arceus, and then transferred toScarlet and Violet. This means that in order to get Hisuian Typhlosion, Hisuian Decidueye, and Hisuian Samurott, for example, without trading, you’d need to crack open a copy ofPokemon: Legends Arceusand do all of the leveling work on there. Once you transfer these Pokemon toScarlet and Violetand attempt to breed them, they will only produce eggs that hatch into the regular variants ofCyndaquil, Rowlet, and Oshawott, as only the final forms had Hisuian variants, and these Hisuian evolutions don’t trigger at all in the Paldea Region.

Hisuian Zoroark & Zorua In Pokemon Legends Arceus

The only exception to this evolution rule occurs in instances where both the pre-evolution and following evolution have Hisuian variants. For example, if you evolve Goomy into Hisuian Sliggoo inPokemon Legends: Arceus, you may then transfer this Pokemon toScarlet and Violet, and evolve it further intoHisuain Goodra, as long as the special evolution requirements are met - in this case, raising Hisuian Sliggoo above level 50 in rainy weather.

Full List of Hisuian Pokemon That Can Be Obtained Through Breeding in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet

While not all Hisuian Pokemon can be obtainable throughbreeding inPokemon Scarlet and Violet, there is still quite a decent collection of pre-evolutions that you may acquire through breeding Hisuian final forms. Note thatto ensure the egg hatches into a Hisuian variant Pokemon, you’ll need to equip the Hisuain Pokemon that you wish to breed with an Everstone before using this method, as this is the rule/mechanic that guarantees Regional Variants.

On top of this, while many Pokemon have dedicated Egg Groups, some of the Hisuian Pokemon below, Hisuian Electrode in particular, can only breed with Ditto. For this reason, it’s recommended that you acquirea dedicated breeding Ditto with solidstats. This way, you’ll ensure that all Hisuian Pokemon you breed will be capable of producing eggs, but also have a chance of passing down some strong IVs to their offspring.
