Rumors have been swirling for some time that Ubisoft has aPrince of Persiaremake in the works. These rumors heated up significantly whenretail listings for thePrince of Persiaremakestarted appearing online, lending them significantly more credibility. And now a well-known industry insider has made the claim that thePrince of Persiaremake will be announced at the upcoming Ubisoft Forward event on September 10.
According to Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier, speaking on the Triple Click podcast, Ubisoft plans to reveal thePrince of Persiaremake at Ubisoft Forward on September 10. “They had been planning a new Ubisoft Forward, where they were going to announce a bunch of games like thePrince of Persiaremake that was leaked a couple of weeks ago. That is planned, it was announced today as being for next week, September 10th.”

If thePrince of Persiaremake retail leaks are to be believed, the game is set to launch this coming November for PS4 and Switch. However, with Ubisoft’s ownAssassin’s Creed Valhallaalso releasing in November, that release date seems unlikely. But if Schreier is correct about thePrince of Persiaremake being atUbisoft Forwardon September 10, then fans don’t have to wait much longer to find out.
Now, it remains to be seen exactly whichPrince of Persiagame the remake will be based on. ThePrince of Persiafranchise started in the 1980s, so it could very well be a remake of the original 1989 release. However, a more likely scenario is that the game is aSands of Timeremake, as it’s safe to say modern gamers are far more familiar with it than the 1989 original.
Previously, some rumors have gone as far as to claim that Ubisoft is going to release aPrince of Persiaremake trilogy, which will includeSands of Time,Warrior Within, andThe Two Thrones. Other rumors still have pointed to a completelybrand newPrince of Persiagameinstead of a remake, but until the announcement is made, all fans can do is speculate.
Assuming the rumors are true, then thePrince of Persiaremake announcement will likely be the biggest reveal at the upcoming Ubisoft Forward. However, it’s not the only game that the company plans to showcase. Ubisoft recently released a trailer teasing some of the other games that fans can expect from the Ubisoft Forward event, including titles likeImmortals Fenyx RisingandWatch Dogs Legion. To see everything Ubisoft has on its slate, fans will just need to tune in to the Ubisoft Forward event on Thursday, September 10 at 12pm PT.
