Summary
Sony has released a newPS5system update for November 2023. ThePlayStation 5officially launched in November 2020, and Sony has released several software updates for the console in this time-frame.
While some of these updates add major new features to the PS5 console, others improve the overall stability of the system. Some of the huge additions include VRR, native support for 1440p displays, the ability toexpand the PS5’s storage, and more. The PS5 received a number of software updates throughout 2023, and Sony has now released a new system update for the month of November.

Update 23.02-08.20.02 is now live for PlayStation 5 users, and it improves the system performance of the console. The update appears to be fairly small, as users will only need to download 851 MB of data to install it. Furthermore, it doesn’t look like this new update is mandatory, so gamers should be able to continue playing online without updating their PS5 systems. Sony has frequently releases stability updates for both PS4 and PS5, and update 23.02-08.20.02 appears to be the latest addition to this fairly long list. Similar patches were released earlier in 2023, as thePS5 system software update for March 2023also came with improvements to system performance.
PS5 November 2023 Update Patch Notes
A more notablePS5 system update was released in October 2023, as it made some changes to the user experience. This PS5 firmware update made music in the control center much easier to use thanks to a two-column layout, along with improvements to the messages feature. In addition, it helped PlayStation VR2 owners avoid unintentionally broadcasting their surroundings along with the game they were playing at that time. Finally, it added a “What’s new?” voice command that allowed users to check new PS5 features.
Even though Sony has released several PS5 system updates, some features are still missing from the console. Most notably,PS5 does not offer support for dynamic themes, despite this feature being near the top of fans’ demands. Dynamic themes were fairly prominent during the PS4 generation, as players would sometimes get unique themes for pre-ordering games. Many more themes were available for free on the PlayStation Store, and they allowed users to change the entire look of the PS4 home menu. It’ll be interesting to see if Sony ever decides to add themes, as it looks like many fans are consistently asking for this feature to come to PS5.
