SomePokemon Scarlet and Violetplayers discovered a potentially game-breaking bug recently and shared details on social media to figure out any common causes or reasons behind the bug. The news broke just one week afterPokemon Scarlet and Violetreleased a new update and two new 5-star raid battles against some legendary Pokemon.
At the time of writing, Nintendo has yet to release any acknowledgment of the bug in question but has promised to continue to provide updates to the games to address the ongoing performance issues that have been reported many times. Last week,Pokemon Scarlet and Violetwere updated to version 1.2.0, which fixed some performance issues by decreasing the number of NPCs and Pokemon that will appear in the game at any given time. But in the process,Pokemon Scarlet and Violetmay have had some other issues crop up as a result of the update.

On Reddit, a growing number of users are contributing to a thread on the r/PokemonScarletViolet subreddit that was first compiled by a user named MatthewCBayer. According to MatthewCBayer, the bug has happened in instances in which players have eitherconnected theirPokemon Scarlet and Violetsave files toPokemon GO, which was a feature brought in with the 1.2.0 version update. However, a few players that have used the postcard feature to obtain Vivillon inPokemon Scarlet and Violethave also reported that their game save files were corrupted and unreadable after a time, and were forced to either delete and reinstall the game if it was a digital copy or start a different file on a different Nintendo Switch player profile.
Other users have reported that the same bug has occurred after preorderingthe upcomingPokemon Scarlet and VioletDLC, The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero, and receiving the preorder bonuses in their save file. At the time of writing, over a dozen users reported that their game saves were lost, including a 500+ hour file by MatthewCBayer. However, no consistency has been reported as far as which Nintendo Switch models orPokemonversions were affected the most by this bug, other than the bug is not easily replicated and only affected some players.
At the time of writing, Nintendo and The Pokemon Company have yet to offer any official comment on the matter. Only time will tell if a fix will come beforethe next seven-star Tera raid battle, or ifPokemon Scarlet and Violet players will have to wait a little longer before this bug is addressed.
Pokemon Scarlet and Violetare available now for Nintendo Switch.
