PlayerUnknown’s Battlegroundswas one of the first battle royale titles to make it big, and the game continues to see updates that add and refine content. At the end of July,PUBGSeason 8 officially released on consoles and Google Stadiawith a remastered Sanhok map, and today its developers announced Update 8.2 will be coming before the end of August with new weapons and features, updated map elements, and more.

The two biggest additions inPUBG’s Update 8.2 are the MG3 Light Machine Gun that has two firing speeds while occasionally shooting tracer rounds, and a Decoy Grenade that emits gunshot sounds and ejects shell casings for 10 seconds so long as it is not thrown into a body of water. Neither will be available in Ranked mode, according to the update’s patch notes, and Decoy Grenades will only appear rarely as world loot in Sanhok.

Some of the new features being implemented allow players to change their lobby music and hide their helmets so cosmetic items can still be seen. The M416, SKS, and Kar98k guns are receiving visual updates and overhauled firing sounds, and four new docks are being added toPUBG’s previously remastered Erangel mapalongside minor changes to UI, game performance, and more.

Update 8.2 is going to be available through the game’s Public Test Server starting August 12, followed by its official release for PC August 19, then for consoles and Stadia August 27. After the launch of Season 8 with its new Sanhok map and mechanics like loot trucks, it is good to see the developers releasing frequent content to satiate players as they wait to see what"interesting" plans are in store forPUBGSeason 9.

As soon as this next update is available on each platform, a “Pick’Em Challenge” will begin to coincide thePUBGContinental Series 2 esports event, allowing players to receive special items by predicting who will win matches until September 23. Withover 70 millionPUBGunits sold as of July, there should be a lot of players available to take part.

While updates continue to roll out forPUBGon major platforms, its mobile spin-off has also received new maps and mechanics for users to enjoy.PUBG Mobilerecently avoided getting banned in Indiaby changing its privacy policy to circumnavigate national security concerns, which have also been cited by countries like China for other apps.
