Fans of shooters might look atRainbow Six Siege Mobileas a much-needed tactical break from the usual fast-paced mobile shooting experience. Being a mobile adaptation of the coreRainbow Six Siegetitle, fans of theRainbow Sixbrand can expect the same destructible environments and a more tactical approach to portable combat, albeit adjusted to fit mobile devices.

With these in mind, fans ofRainbow Six Siegemight wonder what exactly to expect fromRainbow Six Siege Mobileas a portable outing of theRainbow Sixgame. Aside from an overall mobile conversation, just what else should fans anticipate upon playing the new title?
7Graphics Take A Big Blow
If there’s anything immediately noticeable betweenRainbow Six Siege Mobileand the coreRainbow Six Siegeexperience, it will be the graphics. WhereasRainbow Six Siegeusually boasts a lot of detail to improve the level of immersion players have in the tactical shooter, a lot of this graphical integrity vanishes withRainbow Six Siege Mobile.
Instead,Mobiletakes a more straightforward approach in terms of graphics and aims to make things as understandable as possible. This entails making both interactive and non-interactive segments of the map more tied together to meet a bit of mobile immersion but lacking a bit of detail to support the graphical limitations of a mobile device. Interestingly enough, these graphical limitations also somehow translate into a bit of the gameplay of the mobile title.

6Destructibility Takes A Hit
One of the most interesting observations regardingRainbow Six Siege Mobileis that the game tries to emulate the signature destructibility ofRainbow Six Siege’s tactical gameplayas faithfully as possible despite the format restrictions. This means mobile players are still able to fortify parts of maps and destroy much of them in the same way they’re destructible in the base game.
However, destructibility certainly takes a hit in where they’re most available when compared to the main entry. For instance, Bank, Border, and Clubhouse are the currently available maps in the game. And while they all retain their signature “looks,” there are changes to lighting and access to objects like ladders to help accommodate fast-paced gameplay. What’s also noticeable are the levels of destructibility present, such as in Bank where aren’t any vertical destructibles dividing the first floor and the top floor.

5Less Operators, Less Ownership
Similar to other mobile adaptations,Rainbow Six Siege Mobilealso suffers a bit with regard to the availability of playable characters. As with games likeApex Legends MobileandLeague of Legends: Wild Rift, the lack of playable characters makes sense due to the sheer number ofOperators in the coreRainbow Six Siegeexperience. In theMobileiteration, Operators confirmed thus far are Ash, Bandit, Caveira, Hibana, Mute, Sledge, Smoke, Thermite, Twitch, and Valkyrie.

However, what perhaps makes Operators stand out inMobileare currently two (2) things. First, load-outs are yet to be customizable, meaning Operators are stuck with whatever weapon they currently have. The second element is more noticeable, wherein players don’t necessarily get to “own” their Operators. Players can immediately notice thatMobiledoesn’t let players “buy” their Operators. Instead, players have to spend Operator Tickets to get the privilege of playing an Operator, and it’s implied that these Operator Tickets are earned either in-game or in the cash shop.
4Bots Are Equally Smart And Stupid
A game likeRainbow Six Siegeis driven by both tactics and speed, making the game rather harsh to players who are used to the gung-ho approach of wilder FPS titles. And considering how many smartphones in the market aren’t necessarily paving the way for extremely pinpoint controls, maintaining the same degree of tactical expectations withRainbow Six Siege Mobilecan make it a rather difficult game to enjoy.
Unlike the coreSiegegame,Mobileenjoys the presence of bots, where most of them serve as background fodder for players to fight against to get used to the game’s mechanics slowly. During a player’s first few matches, bots will form most teams. However, real players will slowly pop up in teams as players develop their experience. Some bots seem hardwired to learn based on their real player companions' reactions, but said reactions don’t always translate to the field. Not only that, some bots lack the same “game sense”Siegeplayers usually have when it comes to deeper tactics, resulting in lackluster gameplay.

3Movement Is More Straightforward
Given howRainbow Six Siegeis less a straight-up cooperative shooter and more of a tactical shooter, precision movement is king in its gameplay. Reckless players give away their footsteps to enemies, and moving too close or too far from an objective can make a difference between securing a location or leaving it undetected. Thankfully,Rainbow Six Siege Mobiletakes care of many of these discrepancies with a more straightforward movement system.

Whereas the main game demands players time their jumps, crouches, and vaults to move their characters how they want to,Rainbow Six Siege Mobileoffers a slight shortcut. Thanks to the game’s mechanics, players immediately Auto-Sprint with the left stick tilted forward, and there’s an Auto-Vault feature when pushing against an object. Not only that, but players are now able to ADS and Reload, as well as lean while on ADS - features not available in the main game.
Due to the smaller screens and limited controls of most mobile devices, shooters likeRainbow Six Siege Mobilearen’t necessarily as harsh as its primary game counterpart regarding scoring perfect aim. Like other mobile shooters,Rainbow Six Siege Mobilealso possesses an Aim Assist, a feature that can make the game both highly accessible and frustrating for players.

As the name implies, Aim Assist takes care of many tactical aiming problems for players. Unlike themainRainbow Six Siegegame, wherein missing a target could spell life and death between players, just missing a few pixels away from the target can still secure a kill. This is also observable with cameras and gadgets, making tactical moves much faster to execute and fulfill for most participants.
1Gadget Projection Leads To Faster Gameplay
Players ofRainbow Six Siegeknow that precision and speed are key- preparing defenses and breaching past the enemies as soon as possible can secure a match pretty quickly. Such is the same withRainbow Six Siege Mobilegameplay; only Ubisoft wanted to make the tactical component as accessible as possible.
Aside from Aim Assist, Gadgets specifically enjoy something called gadget projection. Similar to games likeApex Legends,Rainbow Six Siege Mobilenow enjoys holographic projections when aiming a gadget in a particular area. This immediately previews the ending location of a Gadget being placed, giving players more information to react much faster. This is quite unlike the main game, where players don’t have gadget projection but rather have to rely on intuition and accuracy to set up properly.

Rainbow Six Siege Mobileis currently available on iOS and Android.
