Ravenswatchis amultiplayer action-roguelitewith action-RPG elements and MOBA-style playable characters. Having recently entered 1.0 and leaving its state in Early Access,Ravenswatchnow features a full gameplay loop across three challenging chapters. There’s an abundance of talents, items, and ways for players to upgradetheir ultimate abilities, offering players a dizzying array of potential strategies and character builds.
With a new character and a complete gameplay loop, there’s never been a better time to delve into this unique indie title, especially asRavenswatchnow features a total of nine unique playable characters. This brings a great deal of diversity to the game’saddictive gameplay loop, helping to keep things fresh for a good while. Unfortunately for newcomers, players only have access to half ofthese playable charactersat the start of the game.

Players begin the game with access toScarlet, The Pied Piper, Beowulf, andThe Snow Queen, unlocking the rest of the characters as they progress. Each of these starting characters offers a unique and distinctive way to play the game, each with its own set of powerful abilitiesand upgrade pools. This offers plenty of variety to players right out of the gate and provides enough characters for a group of four to play together online without needing to unlock any characters. Thankfully, though, unlocking new characters inRavenswatchis a fairly straightforward task, and the prerequisites for unlocking each hero are relatively similar.
Updated on June 17, 2025, by Harry Ted Sprinks:Ravenswatch has finally left Early Access and entered its 1.0 release. One of the biggest strengths of Ravenswatch is its diverse ensemble of playable characters. Thankfully, the game’s new 1.0 update brings a new character into the fold: Carmilla, a unique hero with plenty of fun abilities and possible strategies. However, like many of the heroes in Ravenswatch, Camilla needs to be unlocked by meeting a specific prerequisite.

How To Unlock Aladdin
A Helpful Supporting Hero
Aladdin is a powerful character with some unique abilities that can be hard to get to grips with. Aladdin’s Special, for example, named Enchanted Blades, is a particularly tricky ability to use. This quirky Special ability temporarily removes Aladdin’s ability to attack enemies by throwing his scimitars toward them but makes his attacks more powerful when the blades return. For this reason, it could be argued that Passtech Games made a good decision in keeping him from the starting line-up. Inexperienced players would have likely bounced off of the game had he been available from the start.
Unlocking Aladdin is a simple task. To unlock this character, players simply need tobeat the first chapter of the game a single time.Once players have done this, Aladdin will become available on the character select screen.

How To Unlock Melusine
A Strange But Powerful Character
Melusine is another strange character, with an odd trait that prevents her from attacking and moving simultaneously. Instead, Melusine’s trait forces players to switch back and forth between two unique stances. This added complexity makes her lessaccessible to newcomers, making her the perfect hero to be locked behind a prerequisite.
To unlock Melusine, players mustbeat the first chapter of the game not once, but twice.Furthermore, players must do this withtwo different heroes, compelling players to try out different characters. Although Melusine takes some getting used to, she’s arguably one of the morepowerful heroes inRavenswatch.

How To Unlock Geppetto
A Weak Hero With Brilliant Potential
Geppetto begins the game with very few offensive options, as most of his damage comes from the automated dummies that he constructs with his trait. Unfortunately, by default, Geppetto can only have three dummies active at once. However, with a strong build and careful use of his abilities, Geppetto can do a great deal of damage. This is in large part thanks to his variety of powerful available talents, as well as his relatively strong ultimate abilities.
Unlocking Geppetto is similar to the rest of the heroes inRavenswatch. To unlock him, players mustbeat the first chapter of the game with a total of three different characters. Since players would have already beaten the game with two different characters prior to unlocking Geppetto, they need only beat the first chapter once more (with a different character) to unlock him.

How To Unlock Sun Wukong
A High-Skill Hero With A Focus On Risk And Reward
Sun Wukong is a high-risk, high-reward character who’s capable of dealing a ridiculous amount of damage thanks to his powerful trait. Unfortunately, Sun Wukong is also extremely squishy when using the offensive stance (YANG) of his trait. However, the defensive stance (YIN) allows him to shield everyone nearby and regain health through a life gain of 10% on-hit.
To unlock Sun Wukong, players mustbeat the first chapter of the game with four ofRavenswatch’snine unique characters. This isn’t a particularly difficult task, but it does require players to learn how to play a good majority ofRavenswatch’sheroes.

How To Unlock Carmilla
A Highly-Mobile Hero With A Unique Mechanic
Carmilla is the latest hero to join theRavenswatch, and she’s one of the most enjoyable characters to play thanks to her incredible mobility and unique play style. Carmilla is a vampire that relies on a unique resource, Blood, which she frequently exhausts in order to get the most out of her abilities. Running out of Blood leaves Carmilla with no choice but to dig into her own health, making her a character that’s high in both risk and reward.
Carmilla is easier to unlock than previously added heroes; to unlock this stylish vampire, players need onlycomplete the first chapter of the game with either Aladdin, Melusine, Geppetto or Sun Wukong.
