Summary

Despite reports that plans for it were scrapped, it seemsRedfallis getting one final update after all. Co-op vampire FPSRedfallhas had a rough time ever since it was released last year. The game launched to mostly mixed and negative reviews, and failed to generate a significant audience despite being a day one Xbox Game Pass game. Post-launch updates aimed to address fan feedback and improveRedfall, but did little to actually bring people to the game.

Unfortunately,Redfalldeveloper Arkane Austin was suddenly shut downby Microsoft. At the time, the studio was said to be working on a big new update forRedfallthat would add important new features. With Arkane Austin’s closure, it was assumed that the finalRedfallupdate would never see the light of day. However, it’s now been clarified thatRedfallGame Update 4 will indeed be released to the masses.

In a recent tweet, the officialRedfallTwitter account thanked fans for their supportive messages and promised that Game Update 4 is still in the works with “additional details” coming soon. The tweet teased fans with what they can expect from thefinalRedfallupdate, which is said to include revamped Neighborhood and Nest systems, pausing when playing the game in single-player, an offline mode, “and more.” The addition of an offline mode should be especially important forRedfall, as it ensures that the game will still be playable in some capacity even if the time comes when its servers are switched off.

Redfall Update 4 is on the Way

PerhapsRedfallGame Update 4 will be enough to convince people to give the co-op vampire FPS a proper try. TheRedfallupdates that have been released since the game’s launchhave put it in a much better state, though some of the criticisms levied at it upon its release are still plaguing the game as well.

In any case, Game Update 4 should go a long way in improvingRedfalland delivering on some of the promises that were made for the game, though there will still be some unfinished business.RedfallDLC characters were planned to release this Halloween season, but now they will never see the light of day. By extension, this means thatRedfallwill be unable to deliver the content that was promised by its Bite Back Edition. Microsoft has said that individuals that purchased the Bite Back Edition will be compensated in some way, though details on how exactly have yet to be revealed.
