In 2017,Overwatchadded the Junkertown map to the game, which was received relatively well by fans. It gave fans further insight into the characters Junkrat and Roadhog, who used to reside inJunkertownunder the rule of the Junker Queen. Junkrat and Roadhog were eventually kicked out of Junkertown after getting on The Queen’s bad side, and she hasn’t been featured much in the game’s lore since. However, there is some evidence to suggest thatOverwatch 2may finally be adding the Junker Queen as a playable hero.

Rumors of Junker Queen becoming a playable hero have persisted for years.Overwatchgame director Jeff Kaplan himself has teased the possibility, suggesting that Junker Queen wouldn’t be a Support hero if she was added to the game, leaving Damage and Tank options on the table. And more recently, theOverwatch 2Behind the Scenes video from BlizzCon 2021 may have clues pointing to Junker Queen’s addition to the game.

Fans have noticed a t-posing character in theOverwatch 2Behind the Scenes video that they believe to be theJunker Queen. The character seems to be wearing gauntlets that look like they would match Junker Queen’s outfits from official art, and fans believe they can see her axe in the image as well. It’s possible that fans are mistaken, but it is certainly convincing and it would make sense considering how long Junker Queen has been teased for theOverwatchroster.

Junker Queen may or may not be coming inOverwatch 2, but as it stands, Blizzard only has one new hero officially confirmed for the hero shooter. First revealed at BlizzCon 2021,Sojourn is a new hero making her debut inOverwatch 2whenever the game launches. It’s possible Sojourn will be the only new hero coming with the actual launch ofOverwatch 2and other heroes may have to wait until after launch to get their time in the spotlight, but that has yet to be clarified by Blizzard.

With no newOverwatch 2heroes announced at this year’s BlizzCon event, fans have been tearing the Behind the Scenes videos apart for clues. Besides this potential Junker Queen hint, some fans think they found evidence forOverwatch 2hero Soundquake. However, that theory was debunked when it was clarified that the image was really for PvE characters that have already been featured in the game.

It’s clear that fans are desperate for somenewOverwatch 2hero news, so it’s a good thing that updates on the game will be more frequent moving forward.
